Brenton and Iattended SAC and COB together. Brenton was always a very kind person, who always made us laugh, listen to our problems. Some how Brenton knew if you were having a bad day, or if something was bothering you. In fact I think he had a SIXTH SENCE. which we all realized, Brenton would bug you untiull you tell him what was bothering you, and sometimes after telling him, and hearing his take on it, we would end up laughiong about it. Brenton was always there to talk to. Brenton's SMILE and LAUGH was contagious. WE all miss Brenton so much, and we hope one day to get JUSTICE for Brenton.

Title: Protect and Serve

I agree this use of Lethal Force has to be stopped.. There was abosulty no reason for that officer to Shoot that young man. I dont know what that jury is talking about, but that officer should be held accountable for his cruel actions/
the police make an oath to protect and serve. He should not be acquited.

Title: Bullies on the police force

Some of our Police Officeres continue to use excessise or Letral force when it is not necessary. This has become a critical dilema in this country and must be stopped. We have a lot of Bullies and abusive persons who join our Police Force to settle Bets and abuse of Power. We need to pay more attention to the appliciant's tendency toward violent behavior and theie abusive background. Many of them come from abusive homes and the initial psychological evaluation in an ineffeective predicition of an appliciant's tendencies toward violent and asbusive behavior. THey do not pay enought attention to trhe canadiates history of violence.These oofficeres who continue to use lethal force should be tested several times a year.

So many people followed this case and I dont think that there is one person in this Country, who felt that that verdict was fair..so who are the Jurors in that case? I hope that they are never selected to be on any case again. Maybe they are SPECIALIZED CORONER"S JURORS, they ensure that a police is never charged for their Crimes.WE Bahamians have to take a very close look at some of the Officers on our RBPF. Many are dedicated, good cops but it is frightening to see the many corrupt cops on the police force. Title: Government Should Prosecute

The police must use discretion when deciding what cause of action best serves the situation. In this case with Brenton Smith that officer used wrong judgement, or he simply didn't care and was just trigger happy and decided to kill him. He didn't fit the description, he wasn't running, he wasn't armed, he didn't try to attack the police officer. On the other hand the police was in plain clothes, he never identified himself, or said "POLICE. Brenton Smith was the one who feared for his life, when he saw a man pointing a gun at him. That Officer had the heart to say HE FEARED FOR HIS LIFE, he intentionaly took Brenton's life, because he indeed have the power to do so, because he have a LICENSE TO KILL....because he knew he would get away with it....and the Jury's Verrdict was "SDELF DEFENSE". There is only two description for them , either they all are totally ignorant or totally biased.
Some Police Officers have a Personality Disorder and they tend to have abusive tendinces. These officers lack Empathy for others and this officers attitude certainly displayed that. Officers who exibit these personality patterns, generally do not accept responsibility for their behavior, so they are at a greater risk for repeated offenses..
Since the Jury did not do their JOB, the Goverment should do their's. Police Officers are licensed by the Goverment to carry guns to use while performing their duties, therefore Goverment should be held responsible for protecting US from trigger happy Cops. They need to PROSECUTE that officer for abuse of Excessive force. He intentionly killed Brenton...in his own words he said "GIVEN THE SAME CIRCUMSTANCES , I WILL DO IT AGAIN"...is that not enough...

Title: INJUSTICE ! ! ! !

This link and website site was forwarded to me, and I was appauled at the verdict, after reading the newspaper articles.I can see why this story has gotten so much attention. A Blind, Deaf and Dumb person, especially after hearing the evidence knows that that officer is GUILTY. Use of excessive force is a Criminal Act, and that officer should be charged because the young man did not have a weapon.
This officer violated the "trust" implied to his position as a police officer, Excessive abuse of force violates our laws, and our constituational Rights, Abuse of excessive Force violates Police Laws as well. With all of these possible violations, how could that Jury find that violent Officer Justified in killing that young man.

Title: Hulan Hanna a Bishop in his Church(WHAT A JOKE)

Yes, every body knows that The Jurors, had blantant disregard for the evidence when they decided on that verdict. Their main objective was to ensure that the officer got off, it didn't matter to them that he the officer had no reason to use excessive force. The Police are always protected. Has anyone noticed that after someone is shot by a officer, Hulan Hanna, would say: his officers did the right thing...the suspect had a gun....the suspect had a shinning object in his hand(thats the most popular one) the officer fearef for his life, and other civilians, so he shot the suspect,he was a vagrant, the suspect was running away. Hulan Hanna will justify every Police shooting...and he supposed to be a MAN OF GOD, I know how we, the general public feel about him, but what about his people in his church, his realatives his children? I can tell you that you cant trust him nor rrespect.

Like many of Brenton's friends. I am angered by the Verdict of Self-Defense, who were those people on the Jury, they heard the facts, yet they made a concious decision to condone that police officer, I could understand , if one or two of the Jurors was corrupt...but SEVEN? ...., they all must be some low-life people who hates good people. I am sure they only heard good things about Brenton...and I guess they hated him for that, especially if they may have criminalistic children or family, not to mention that he is good looking. ..I guess we cannot put all the blame on the Jurors, because of the crime in this Country, the Jurors feel that they should protect the Police. I am sure that they knew that officer should have been charged, but they were in a catch 22 position.
When we recruit these officers we need to understand the psychological dynamics of these officers. We also need to check out their background. This officer may have come from an abused home, may have had problems in school, maybe he was a bully, and of course joining the police force, whould have been ideal for him, because now he has a license to kill, or he could have been bullied and ridicule in school, and now on the police force, he can settle bets, without conquences. Who ever investigated this Kelsie Munroe, should be fired.

Title: Not All Officers Are Corrupt

Because of the corrupt officers, civilians tend not to respect Police Officers and they characterize all police officers as mean and corrupt. However the majority of Officers are dedicated public servants who put their lives on the line in order to protect the rest of us. It is important that we indentify and get rid of these rotton apples. I am sure that even though this officer got off, he is not respected by his peers.
IF this officer is still on the Police Force, he should most certainly be discharged, because this incident is bringing to much embarresment to our RBPF. We cannot support him simply because he is a Police.

Title: THe Government Should Give The Smith Family Justice

I read many of these comments by bloggers, while i am not totally familar with the story, because I live in Toronto. I went on Brenton's website, and read the news articles . According to what was reported in the newspapers, the officer who shot Brenton was totally wrong, but what was worse , the Jury said that he was killed in self defense, and there seem to be no evidence to support that verdict. So what happens now, shouldn't the attorney General overrule that verdit due to the facts,? What about the Coroner, could'nt he have overule that verdict as well. What kind of INJUSTICE is practiced in my Country. I agree with several young men who commented . They stated that they have no desire to return home after College. This grave injustice has impacted many of us at home and abroad.
Ultimately we have to blame our leaders, what are they doing about this. They should demand JUSTICE for the Smith Family. It seems to me that one party is just as bad as the other.THEY SIMPLY DO NOT CARE. My prayers are with the Smith family, and pray that they remain strong.

It is obvious that Mr. Greenslade, Tommy Turnquest, and the attorney General will not do anything with that officer. I think that the Smith Family nees to move and now with positive things which involves their son foundation. I agree as well that that officer should be charged, but he will not, becvause he is protected by all of them, and dont forget the masonic lodge which he is involved in. The foreman of that Jury is also involved as a Mason. Yhis was indeed a very sad case, but there is nothing more you can do. You need to now leave this in God's Hands, they all can RUN ..but they can't HIDE. God will deal with all of them, because they are just as bad as the killer.

When an unarmed peaceful civilian is killed by the Police, they are being killed by AGENTS of the GOVERNMRENT that is supposed to represent them. Brenton Smith death was a true failure of Government, and it seems as if not one of them is taking a stance , or in fact, even cares that a Mother and father has lost their son, but one day the shoe may be on the other foot, and then they will understand, what tremendous loss Brenton's family is going through.

Title: Police not Accountable

I am a three year student at COB, and I was appauled and outraged at the verdict by the Jury. Their rationale and decision, proves that it was not a balance Jury, comprised of a TRUE diverse citizenry. They obviously feel that police should not be held by the same standards as civilians.This verdict sends a message to civilians as well as Police Officers, that it is OK for Officers to use "EXCESSIVE FORCE" whenever they want to , and that they will not be held accountable for their "ABUSE OF POWER".
My Faith in the Police, The Judicial System, and Jury Scrunity has been severely diminished.
This verdict is just another example of Police- Coverup, it happens all the time.
We need to create a climate of resistance to abuse of Power by Police Officers, and to enpower our People to make our Police Officers ACCOUNTABLE ...ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, NO MORE UNNECESSAY KILLINGS.
I didn't know Brenton well, however I have heard all positive things about Brenton from mutual friends.
I hope that Brenton's Family gets Justice.

In my day police motto was "TO SERVE AND PROTECT", today there are many young police officers who are just trigger happy, and thy abuse their POWER. The Police Fraternity is an orginizationan of lying traitors. They pledge to Serve and Protect, but instead they kill and brutilized our civilians. I am just as fearful of the police as I am of the criminals. I am sure that there are maybe other crimes ,this officer may have gotton away with during his 11 year tenure on the RBPF, which led to the reckless and callous killing of Brenton. Title: Was a TOXICOLOGY REPORT DONE ON OFFICER MUNROE

I read on one of the othe Tribune articles, which stated that a toxicology report was sent to florida to see if Brenton had any alchol or Drugs in his system. THe POLICE stated that the results came back,....., NEGATIVE...... Why would you have a report done on a person who was killed?,.......and not have it done on the KILLER......
WHat about Office Munroe, was a rtoxicology report done on him, and what were the results, after all he was the one that did the shooting..I am sur that the police will not discrerdit Munroe, like they tried to do with Brenton.
The Police are so BLANTANLY unfair. They need to have some intergity like Officer Opkunno and Nottage . These two officers should be commended for their Honesty, but I guess that too will never happen. I wonder how they are now treated on the Police Force. That verdict was unjust. Our Government ministers are ignoring our rights as a citizen. It seems as if they actually encourage RBPF to get away with anything, because that are not held accountable. The police know that they can break the law, because they are protected by Politicians, Judical System, peers, supervisors, and THE LODGE.

Title: Why have a coroners Court?

The Coroners Court Jurors are selected by Police Officers, as result you will never get Justice, when the accused is a Police. I think that the Coroner should lead the inquest, and reach a conculision without a Jury, because there is no direct criminal liability that attaches to the coroners Court...so why have a Jury.
This case was a prime example of the corrupt coroners court. Those jurors should never be allowed to set on any case again.

I followed this case in the Media, and the more I read about that Coroner's Inquest, I knew that officer was going to be charged, because the evidence was overwhelming, yet what happened, that Jury said that the officer feared for his life. It is the general perception of the people, that the police in many instances continue to use excessive force, even though it is not necessary .This case clearly shows that that officer felt that he was above the law,. IIn an article on Feb. 16, 2010, Hulan Hanna refused to give out the names of Police Officers who was at the strip club or was involved in the operations when it was raided. Title: PANEL OF JUDGES

We have to question the vadility of the Coroners Jury, especially when they are selected when a police has done a crime. At the begining of that inquest, the Judge, and the Lawyers, should determine if the jurors knew any of the parties concerned, and if they were free from BIAS and prejudgement. I think that whenever there is a situation that involves the Police ac the interestef party, that inquest should be tried before a pannel of judges.
Those JUrors were either ignorant or they just plain decided not to convict that police officer. those Jurors have a higher power to answer to, and they will be punished for their transgressions. You ll put that killer back on the streets, and I hope your decision to do so dont come back to bite you.

THat verdict tells you a lot about those Jurors. THey are obviously people of low self esteem, has no morals or values, and they must have had a very abusive childhood. I personaly think they resented Brenton and his family.

I am sure after that verdict, the smith family realize that our Police Judical System and JUry was corrupt. I think they expected at least the jury to do the right thing.

Title: Brenton's Death was a Tragic loss to ALL...

On July 9, 2009 Brenton's life was taken by a police officer, who to date have not apoligized to the Smith Family, but in addition, he said that he would do it again.Brenton's Family have suffered a terrible unconceivable and tragis loss, and countless numbers of us have lost a TRUE FRIEND. Brenton was loved by many and we miss him terribly.. Thoes who knew Brenton will remember his spirit of kindness, his total concern and care for others, the friend who would always stand up for you and support you. Brenton would say Man, you'll better get straight, because the big man who brought you here...can take you out anytime. When I ask if he was ready , he said " Yah man, i ready..I straight ya know. That was indeed Brenton's famous words about almost anything "I STRAIGHT".
That officer stole Brenton from us . He can no longer talk to us, counsel us, hug us, Brenton was famous for his great bear hugs, his awesome smile and his unique laugh...no one can ever laugh like brenton. Brenton had such a great and positive impact on our lives and we will never forget Brenton,. There is hardly a day goes by that we dont talk about Brenton, whenever I pass the basketball court, i feel Brenton's Sipit..and I would always say...Brenni, I know you are watching over us.
To you JURORS, I hope you ask for forgiveness for the great injustice that you have done to Brenton......I know where Brenton is, cause Brenni is STRAIGHT.
Knowing the kind of person Brenton was, I know that he has already forgiven his killer, the jury, kelsie's partner, and anyone who played a part in that cover-up and injustice. It is "US" ..BRENTON'S FAMILY AND FRIENDS who cannot move on and we will continue to fight for JUSTICE for Brenton . THe same way lawyers are disbared, certain unthecial Jurors should be disbared from jury duty. Those Jurors are a prime example of Corruptness in our Country.
I am surprised that the Coroner himself, did not overuled that verdict. Title: Incredible Verdict By Coroners Jury

Ven though the evidence and facts was a clear cut and graphic example of EXECESSIVE FORCE by munroe that led to brenton's death, the Coroners Jury deceided to turn a blind eye and ear to the facts.
The forewoman of the jury is a neigbour, and she is a part of the lodge just like kelsie...and you know they protect their own. A person like kelsie will always be a part of a lodge, he needs protection when he commits his crimes.

Title: Munroe 1476 needs counselling

That Coroners Jury gave a strong signal To us as well as Violent and Corrupt Officers that it is alwright for police to kill innocent civilians, because they are in fact above the law, and they have the power to kill. I still maintain that i have great respect for Greenslade, but it worries me that even if he hasn't discharged munroe,because he is only a corporal, why is he still allowed to carry a gun. Anyone who knows 1476 MUNROE is aware of his behavior and he need serious counselling. Munroe is more than capable of doing this again....check out his record, but then again, partners cover for partners...thats just the way it is...because you dont know when its going to be your time..and you may need that partner to do the same for you.

The decision of the Coroners Jury was a shameful indication of the way of our courts and judicial support POLICE CRIMINALITY in this country. Before this case started the public knew that Brenton was an innocent young man walking in the streets with his friend , and that there was never a question of cross fire. Some Police Officers help to perpetuate violence and crime in our country. When munroe heard that the food store had been robbed, he was on a mission, and his mission was certainly accomplished. He killed an innocent young man, he had no apoliges, no remorse. Title: Without Justice...there is no clousure

I went on Brenton's site because a co-worker emailed me his web address and i decided to make a comment.I don't know him personally, however many of us at the office followed his story, and needless to say that many nof us were totally dissapointed when we heard the verdict. Our Justice System failed us again. The questions which were asked was... WHO WERE THE JURORS...were they ignorant, uneducated, insane, friend or family of Munroe? I spoke to two reporters after that case, and no one could figure it out why the jury would come back with such a verdict. I have a 17 year old son, and i can only imagine that family's grief, and the fact that the officer was not punished or sorry for his crime, instead he have the opportunity to move on with his life, while the Smith Family mourns the loss of their son...WITHOUT JUSTICE.. AND....NO CLOSURE. That oficer is a real threat to our society and especially our sons, becaue he feels that he has the right to kill...and he will do it again.
In order to save my son and yours, we , as Bahamians have to decide collectively that not another one of our children must die senselessy. THe Attorney General and THe Comminissioner should charge Munroe for the death of Brenton.

Title: KARMA

Before that officer shot Brenton, he should have identified himself and give clear warning of his intent to use his firearm. HE was totally unjustified in the use of lethal force, because he never followed those procedures, and neither did brenton fit the descripton which was relayed to him from the control room.
Why did he shoot him and whyyyyyyydid he feard for his life. According to his statement in the newspapers Brenton did not have a weapon nor did he attack him. The most difficult thing to understand...is why did the Jurors say that Munroe feared for his life??? One can only guess why the jury decided on that verdict. I believe in "KARMA" and the Jury along with Munroe and his other PARTNERS IN CRIME will get their JUST DUE..what goes around comes around.

THe Comminissioner should identify and deal with corrupt officers involved in humane rights violations. Detailed records shouild be kept of these officers, which should be audited regulary in order to identify patterns of abuse. Kelsie Munroe reminds me of the Nazi Officers in Germany, when they killed so many of the JEWS. HE has the same mindset and mentality. I am usually on the side of the police, however in Brenton Smith case, I know that he was completely innocent. hBRENTON cared and was greatly concerned for others, and I can personally attest to that because Brenton helped me and many of my friends with our challenges and day to day problems. Brenton was a gift not only to his family but to many of us who sought him out for advice and support. The officer who took Brenton's life, I am sure he is aware what a great person Brenton was, and to think that he was not sorry for his crime nor would he apologize to Brenton Family. I am sure that Kelsie Munroe knew that the coroners jury, would come back with that verdict, because coroners jurors are hand-picked by corrupt cops and corrupt court employees who use jury manlipulations to achieve pre-determined results in court cases which involve the police.
it is well known fact that actions of killer cops as it relates to murder and torture are almost always found to be justified by the "POWERS THAT BE" and sometimes they are rewarded and promoted for these murderous acts.
BAD AND CORRUPT COPS are made out to be heroes not villians.
WE have crime on the streets and on the police force....same difference, how\ever Police pledge to protect us, instead some of them are killing our children.

I think the readers and commenters are attacking the wrong person, munroe did the crime, but the judical system and the jury was at fault. It seems as if the RBPF suffers from insufficient accountability, both internal and external. Internal accountability enchances competence, and prevent corruption, whereas external accountability can ensure people-orientated service. The law prescribes the mode and manner how the police officers should dispose od their duties, but if there is insufficient departmental mechanism, and no neutral body to scrutinise whether the police officers are doing their duties properly. As a result this will create widespread human suffering and violation of citizen's rights.
(for example), was okpuno or nottage rewarded or punished for telling the truth and not covering up for munroe, or were they in fact punished or ostracized, because they didn't enable and support munroe in his crimunal behavior? And what about Barrington Sands, he falsely testified regarding the criminal conduct of munroe.
this so called "BLUE WALL OF SLIENCE" must stop. this conspiracy can take many forms: falsely testifing regarding the criminal conduct of fellow police officers, actively covering up the criminal conduct of fellow police officers . New laws should be passed to discourage this type of criminal behavior, and the culprits should serve jail time.

We do not have a professional police force in the bahamas, many of the the officers are corrupt, not educated, and were previously involved in some form of criminal activity.
The government and the juducial system is aware of the corruption, manipulation, illeggal arrest,torture,, and other malpractices of police, so they are aware that they are working with a deviated force, however i dont want to lose sight and not commend our heroes on the force who are doing a great job, headed by our commissioner Greenslade. I still think that he should be more vigilant in weeding out officers like munroe, who in fact is giving our police force a bad name and image. the fact that munroe was callous in his statements that he was not sorry and that he would do it all over again...that is a poor a heartless statement that he made, and I dont understand how greenslade is condone that. I feel that the comissioner should make a public apology to the smith family, so that this country would know that he is not in agreement with that.
When it comes to any form of police corruption or abuse of power the
, FNM nor the PLP criticises the police. Both parties want to ensure that they get the police vote at the next election, so they close their eyes, after all they are not personally affected, but protected. If the PLP comes to power in the next election, they will defend the same police force that the FNM is defendind today.

According to the media the police did a toxology test on Brenton Smith , which the police confirmed came back negative.. I still don't understand why that test was done on someone who was not only shot by the police, but in fact died shortly thereafter. My question is why wasn't a test done on Kelsie Munroe, who shot Brenton. I think that all police officers who are involved in a shotting incident, should undergo a urinalysis within 24 hours of the shooting.....

The verdict although extremely disappointing, came as no surprise to me. As an observer in court of the posture and demeanor of the jurors you quickly surmise that there is humanity lacking in them. Of those that actually paid attention, there was no emotion when comments that would have sparked a response from any feeling person, evoked no reaction whatsoever from them. Kelsie Munroe’s responses that: he would do it the same way again or it was not his job to apologize to the family or the only thing that was important to him was that he got home that night stirred spectators and media persons alike with gasps and commentary at the brass and callousness of an individual. The jury, however remained unphased, numb, emotionless. Clearly, sitting through the trial and hearing the evidence played no part in their decision-making. If fear for his life was THE reason Munroe shot Brenton, then shouln’t the very things that prompted this fear be written in his statement. Any thinking person would deduce then that this was a story concocted after the fact to cover up a mistake. Further, the manner in which he spoke on the stand does not depict a man afraid of ANYTHING. I’m sure Brenton was more fearful of this man with a gun poised at him than Munroe could ever be of an unarmed him. Clearly, these jury members have no children, or they have the kind of children they deem deserving of being shot first and asked questions later.
Kelsie Munroe and liar, I mean lawyer Ramona Farquharson, I hope realizes how fortunate they are to have met up with the ‘right’ family. Because although armed with passion in pursuit of justice for their son, the Smiths have exhibited a lot of grace as I am sure that other parents of a slaughtered son may not have reacted so decently to such a verdict. I commend Bernie & Rosie, siblings and Mum because you have been unfailing in your commitment to Brenton, but I wouldn’t expect any less. Brenton, being the humble person he was would probably say “Don’t worry about me you know, I’m straight”. But alas, I guess that’s why God took you to be with him. You always put the needs of others before your own, you were simply too good for this world. The fight for justice WILL continue because you were treasured, you were loved and your life was important to us. We, far less than perfect individuals won’t be straight until justice is served and other young lives are not simply dispensed with and extinguished as yours was. Fear for his life – Kelsie Munroe and Ramona Farquharson – what a complete joke you both are.
I have the utmost respect for Commissioner Greenslade as do many others. The humanity, decency and integrity are apparent in him. I appeal to all of these qualities when I ask that you do the fair and just thing with regards to Kelsie Munroe. There should be no more room for corrupt police on our force especially those that are a threat to innocent people. Munroe is someone with an arrogance, a blatant disregard for human life and one who cannot even acknowledge his own wrong-doings. This seems very unlike all that you stand for Mr. Greenslade. As for Hulan Hanna – respect, not so anymore, that was diminished the moment your statement regarding Munroe’s return to work was released. The audacity of you or (Roy Miller) to align yourself with the likes of Kelsie Munroe makes you no better than him. I am embarrassed at the high regard I once held you in.
As for the two heroes, in my humble opinion, Officers Okpunno and Nottage, if you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything. Your stand for what is right is representative of the honest and upright policemen that I do believe exist on the RBPF. My prayer is that your valor and honesty is not only rewarded but is in fact infectious. Our police force could stand more like you and we as Bahamians need to believe that we deserve nothing less than individuals whose job is to not only serve and protect but to do so with honesty and integrity. Your colleague, Barrington Sands, however showed only cowardice. To his credit, it was seemingly difficult for him to get up on the stand and lie unashamedly as did his partner Munroe. Sands probably has some trouble sleeping at night but a piece of advice for you Officer Sands: When you attempt to lie – make it believable! You couldn’t catch a slim 18 year old Lashard Thompson if he was standing still. Amazing is that in forty four seconds, your partner Munroe got of his car, shot Brenton, fell down, you checked to see if he was okay, you chased Lashard seventy feet, searched him and brought him back to Brenton at which time you called an ambulance. Wow, you must be lightning. And shame on you for trying to discredit this young man who did nothing more than held his dying friend until he took his last breath. I hope Kelsie Munroe and his freedom is worth having to live with yourself and lies you told under oath. Good Luck.
For the jurors and others who believe that Munroe’s force was reasonable, I wonder how you would feel if your loved on found themselves on the other side of this killer’s gun.
Kelsie Munroe you sunk to a new low when you decided that in addition to stealing this young man’s life, you would try to take his reputation along with it. You watched food store surveillance video in which there were plainly two dark young men, one wearing a red hooded shirt over a white t-shirt and pants not jeans. I suppose in your thought processing, the suspect could have taken off the hooded sweater, traded his pants for jeans got rid of the gun and money, then change his complexion. You can still say that you didn’t shoot the wrong man. I guess you thought the jury and others were ignorant, you were right about the former apparently.
Kelsie Munroe, as detestable an individual as you are, your ultimate judge is not on this earth so I suppose instead of ill-will toward you we should probably replace it with pity. As for your time here on earth – there are laws which govern the Universe and state that would you give to the world, you will indeed get back, or if you prefer: what goes around comes around or you reap what you sow. Take your pick.
As for your mother, she should be so proud. If it was a rogue of a son she sought to raise, well she surely succeeded in that area. And Dear Ms Farquharson, you must represent the epitome of heartlessness and evil. Your theatrics in court were callous and crass enough, but to flash pictures of a deceased Brenton before members of his family was low even for you. It was at this time that I concluded that you probably had no children. Munroe, good luck in the pursuit of your dreams, happy that you can get on with your life. I guess you may be a lawyer to get criminals such as yourself off in the future. You and Ms. Farquharson surely make a great fit. Unfortunately Brenton won’t be able to pursue his dreams and make a valuable contribution to this society, you single handedly saw to that. You remain living proof that Brenton was too good for this world in which he would have to dwell with the likes of you.

As Bahamians we need Justice not only for Brenton, but many of us have young sons ...and we are all wondering ...WILL OUR SON BE NEXT?...Mr. Grenslade, I hope you are doing a Private Investigation on Mr. Munroer and others like him. Title: Professional Corners Jourors in Brenton's Case

THe police have done it again.The police has killed another young man April 25/2010 , however it didn't make the news until May 2 2010. The Police was holding the alleged Police Officer who stabbed Carey for Days before the news went to the press.....I guess trhey din't know how to cover that up. I hope the same jury who was on Brenton's SMith case wont be on this case...because , he will get of if he says that ..... HE FEARED FOR HIS LIFE.
and that jury will believe that or convience themselfs because he is a police officer. However since that office was charged this morning, in Court, that Corners Jury will not have the opportunity to set hom free. THe jurors that are selected through the system will be fair.

hulan hanna could welcome back a murdering police, but no word of the other police who told the truth in the court room...opuno and nottage and the officer who provided the transcripts between control room and munroe/sands...i could just imagine what hell they are catchin now...but guess what...ein no blood on their hands...brenton smith's blood is on the hands of those who would have us believe that he deserved to be shot and killed in cold blood. corruption is filtering up from the bottom and trickling down from the top in this country! and this incestuous coverup is one of many...but one thing is for sure..."when a brave man STANDS, the spines of those around him stiffen!" the smith family is STANDING...you could see they ein goin no where! let's see how many so called leaders will stand in support of justice, even now that the coroner's jury has spit in the face of the smith family...let's see what greenslade will do...let's see what tommy t will do...let's see what the average bahamian will do...who will stand with this family and say...NO MORE!! I would like to know who were on that coroners Jury, who allowed Kelsie Munroe to go free, these Jury members needs to be charged, because they take an oath to represent Justice and they didn't . Actually I am suprised about the two honest cops, OKPUNO and NOTTAGE who gave evidence against Kelsie Munroe and his Partner Barrington Sands. I am sure they are living a DOG LIFE because of the TRUTH>

The Police at the outset said that it was a case of mistaken identity. How the jury came to this conclusion is beyond me. Brenton I am sure was more fearful, for his life, than the officer.

Title: Whatelse was expected

Silence, indifference and blindness in moments when showing that one care really matters is what seems to be given when justice is expected in the Bahamas. Remember it is only he who feels it knows it. The police would not wake up until they come face to face with the reality of silence, indifference and blindness by members of the general public in their quest to curtail crime. Could it be that not knowing what to do or accountability being the best way to resolve matters contribute to the wildfire of cirme in a nation where one thing is said with another thing conflicting it being openly demonstrated that one believes they are hallucinating only to understand HYPOCRISY is played out clear enough for everyone to see. What is the connection in the pieces to the crime puzzle the word COVERUP, whatelse is expected when this is done by those who find folly to be a way of life. A child would have judged more justly and it is far from being shameful as it is presentation of err in a land which says to the rest of the world we have great care in making the Bahamas a safe place to play, live and work. Think again and let's be real those who don't see that those with sight disapprove of falsehood. Let truth prevail. Never would have been so clear one sees criminal pay a price as scapegoats and Brenton is the innocent who fell into the snare to wake up the nation. This is not the first but hopefully the one who would turn the system into seeing the err of its ways.

But why you dumb Bahamians so surprised we have been slapped, punched, kicked, cheated, robbed, stolen from, lied to, manipulated, and abused by our leaders from independance until this day. So are you going to let them get away with it while they ride off on their high horse into the sunset?
Make some noise, ask questions, Protest do someting. we need a revolution maybe even anarchy. the Bahamas done slack and corrupt any how.
Anybody got any alternatives? Where the Peoples will will be done? and not the fake politicans will.
Sorry for call Bahamians dumb but when you sit down and do nothing but talk and no action and keep the status quo or meaning let the same things continue. then what do expect to happen.
Insanity is you keep on doing the same things and you expect to get different results.
But you have to do something different to get different RESULTS!
Politicians wont change for the people until the same crap happens to them. Which is too late and has wasted the people's time and positive fair resolutions couldve been done long time ago.

Bahamasair been a monopoly for so long but not today. But ya see the truth comes out they been operating at a loss of over $250 million dollars. Now both political parties need to be shamed cuz that happened on both the PLP watch for 30 years total and the FNM for 10 years and counting this term which would make 15 years.
So my question to my fellow Bahamaians where all this money gone. How many hands been in the Bahamasair "Cookie Jar"? Do we need to call names or assume cuz I een know no Names but operating at a loss of over $250 million dollars for how many years? Man every politician who driving a flashy car, blinging it up and living behind the lyford gate is suspect to me.
Bahamains we have been fooled for too long. Somebody been teefing i tell U. So are you gonna let them get away with it? Are you not going to get up off you lazy backside and make some noise and put all a dem politicians feet to the fire or on notice? If we dont start making noise and asking questions it will happen again and again until the divide between the rich Bahamians and the Poor Bahamians may be to large and the Middle class be no more. If we continue this lawlessness and slackness and be too complacent and not fight for our rights.

Title: Confusing

Some pieces are missing. Did the officer identify himself? Did he warn Brenton that he was going to shoot? In the USA and UK officers are taught that shooting the suspect should be the last resort. If he saw Brenton "coming at him" with no weapon, no gun or knife or anything, that does not give him an excuse to shoot him. If anything he should have gotten into a bit of fight or used "excessive force" with Brenton before shooting. Did he think he could shoot someone and "save the day"? Whilst I do understand the position the policeman was in, I also understand that policemen are trained to handle situations just like these. I dont think that he should've gotten off without a conviction. He should have been convicted of manslaughter. My condolences to the Smith family and I pray that there is some way they can appeal this decision

Title: condolences

Every time a call comes in that there are armed suspects on the loose, the policeman who suits up and straps, goes into a war mode. 'Suspect armed and dangerous' is a code no officer wants to hear or wants to be sent out on.
As soon as exits his car, he is in a fight for his life. Unfortunately the state of crime in this country makes it possible that any day Brenton's fate could be ours. A stray bullet from a gun or mistaken identity.
We trust the officers to make good decisions. Sometimes they will, sometimes they won't. We were not in the officer's shoes. We can second guess him all we like. He may come to our rescue one of these nights when some misguided youth is holding the gun to one of our children's head.
He has to live with himself and the family has to find a way to cope with this loss in this war on crime. may the peace that only time brings come to all of them.

The officer knew well that this young man was NOT a part of the robbery!
It was simply “at pulse!”
Our Bahamian officers are yet still impulsive in weapons!
They need extensive weapon training!
If they have not, I suggest they seek International training!!!

Title: Lies

Brenton was a friend of mine. I don't know what kind of jury can look past the officer's initial report and the testimony of eye witnesses and come up with this conclusion. There is nothing logical about it. And what makes me furious is that he did not even have the decency to apologize! Even if he thought he was justified, he still killed a couples ONLY SON. The least he could do was express some remorse!

Not once in this whole ordeal have i hear anything about the officer annoucing his presnence, as im sure is required. Under oath he also brought up that Brenton "came at him" yet it was not in the report, that right there is enough to tell me that it did not happen. That is a key piece of information that would give reason enough for him to draw his weapon, the fact that it was not in the report leaves much to be wondered.

Title: Sad for the Family

Although it will be difficult, I think the family has to accept the decision or this will kill them. Hopefully using their grief to create the foundation in his memory will be a way for Brenton to live on.
