Andros MP Picewell Forbes is set to appear before Senior Justice Anita Allen tomorrow morning to answer questions as to why he should not be held in contempt of court. Last night, the judge declared a mistrial in the John Travolta attempted extortion case after she learned that Forbes had announced at the PLP convention that his former political colleague Pleasant Bridgewater had been acquitted

The announcement was carried live on radio and television, but the jury was still behind closed doors, trying to reach a verdict when the announcement was made.

Justice Allen said she had no choice but to order a retrial saying 'justice must not only be done, but seen to be done.'

This morning, Anthony McKinney, the lawyer representing Forbes told the Tribune that Forbes had no intention of disrupting the legal proceedings and had simply relayed what turned out to be bogus news that he heard on the convention floor.

Title: Forbes Attorney has to be jokin ...rite!!!

Pleassssssssssseeee re Anthony McKinney's comments!!! Forbes dubs himself as a JOURNALIST and as such is well aware of the importance of checking the FACTS especially given that it was common knowledge the jury's verdict was outstanding and as such a "breaking news" item.

Title: Justice must be swift

It would be nice to hear what he has to say. His defence has already been established that he heard on the floor at convention with so many people how could you really tell who told whom? I have a suggestion BTC could tell who sent the text or made the call and to whom it was sent. All Ms Allen has to do is request police action and bam they we have the culprit. This can be done but will it be done? How bad do we want the truth? This is a seroius matter just supposed a juror leaked the information and has the potential to be called as a juror again and distors another matter even more serious than this one; then what we will cry foul again?

Title: Is this CUBA??

He broke no laws. Do not we have freedom of speech? He was not part of the case as either a layer, juror, or judge, so I see no laws having been broken. The judge is to blame for the mistrial, it was just a NON OFFICIAL civilian talking at a party, she had no reason to see it as anything more than that. Obviously the judge is biased, judges in the Bahamas tend to think they are some kind of GOD, while in most cases they are dumb as a brick.

Title: Once Again!!!!!

Once again the PLP has out done themselves.... They seem to know everything but they actually know nothing. I strongly feel that Mr. Forbes should step down and resign. He is an embarrassment. Where is Kanye West when you need him? For sure he needed to interrupt Mr. Forbes last night......
