TO MARK the occasion of her 50th birthday earlier this month, Jane Lloyd fulfilled a lifelong dream and completed a 13,500 feet tandem skydive in Zephryhills, Florida.

In lieu of birthday gifts, Jane asked her family to make donations to charity and, as a result, the Bahamas Cancer Society, the Breathe Easy Bahamas Campaign and the Springhill Cancer Hospice in the UK will all benefit.

It was touch and go whether the skydive would actually go ahead since a bad cold front came through northern Florida on the morning of Jane's birthday, but the pilot decided there was one window of opportunity to make the jump and, despite black clouds, thunder and lightning all around, Jane made the 2.5 mile jump with her instructor Eric, watched on the ground by anxious husband Chris Lloyd of BASRA and mother, Mavis Walsh, visiting from the UK.

Jane made the jump in memory of her father and mother in law, both lost to cancer in the past few years.

  • Yes - Bahamians have given the FNM and PLP chances and it's time we give someone else a chance to see what they can do for the country
  • No - Bahamians will never vote anything other than the FNM or PLP into power
  • Maybe - It depends on who is a part of this new organisation and what they offer that's different from the FNM and PLP
