No Cadbury
Easter chocolates for the Bahamas

DUE to shipment problems, Bahamians will have to do without their beloved Cadbury Easter chocolates this year.

D'Albenas Agency, which purchases the chocolates from the United Kingdom and distributes it in the Bahamas, has called off the shipment of Easter products after it was determined that Cadbury would not be able to deliver them in time for the holiday in April.

Michelle Ferguson, the purchasing manager at D'Albenas Agency, told The Tribune that the order was placed in December.

"Cadbury was not able to produce them in time for us to get them in time for Easter. We cancelled the order because after the Easter season they don't sell much," she said.

Ms Ferguson said that in addition to bringing in the famous Cadbury Créme Egg, a company staple since 1923, they had planned on purchasing the Caramel Eggs and Button Eggs.

"It's not a major loss because sometimes they sell, sometimes they don't. Easter time isn't as big as Christmas time," Ms Ferguson said.

While it may not be a big financial loss to the D'Albenas Agency, Bahamians yesterday expressed their disappointment in being denied their traditional Easter treats.

"It is very disappointing, how are people going to make Easter baskets if there are no (Cadbury) chocolates available," one chocolate lover said.

Another said: "I always purchase the Cadbury Eggs, specifically during Easter time to prepare my kids' Easter baskets and for my church's annual Easter hunt. This is somewhat bitter."

D'Albenas Agency is the only company in the Bahamas that brings in the Cadbury products.
