FREEPORT – A man, accused of robbing members at a local church, was arraigned on armed robbery and assault charges in the Freeport Magistrate’s court on Tuesday.
Trischan Johnson, 30, of Lewis Yard, appeared in Court 3 before Deputy Chief Magistrate Helen Jones.
He was charged with two counts of armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
Johnson pleaded not guilty to the assault charge. However, he was not required to enter a plea to the armed robbery charges.
It is alleged that on December 22, the accused entered a church on Sunset Highway and robbed two church members of an i-phone valued at $700, keys, and a black bag containing $400 in cash and other personal items.
Johnson was represented by LaQuey Laing. He was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison until April 8, 2014 when a preliminary inquiry will be held into the matter.

Over three months in prison. That is how long YOU can expect to stay in prison even if you are innocent. Somebody just has to accuse YOU and there you will be. That's our system.

what if someone murders another person. They are also accused persons and maybe innocent. Do we let them go rather than hold them for court. They are all presumed to be innocent, but if they are guilty they may very well go out and commit other crimes just like the animals who are out there raining down terror on the Bahamian people. This person was caught my members of the church before he could go very far and all the property that he stole was recovered. Now do you get it John!!!
