In a concession speech released by the FNM, outgoing Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis has thanked Bahamians for the last four years:

“Tonight I spoke with Leader of the Progressive Liberal Party Philip Davis and offered my congratulations to him and his party on their victory at the polls,” Dr Minnis said.

“I offered him my best wishes as his Government now faces the continued fight against COVID-19, and the restoration of our economy.

“I would like to thank the tens of thousands of Bahamians from across The Bahamas who voted for Free National Movement candidates. I also congratulate the FNM candidates who won seats in the House of Assembly.

“I am in that number, and again my gratitude goes out to the people of Killarney for making me their representative for the fourth consecutive time.

“I will lead the Free National Movement into the House as the leader of Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition. The Bahamas has a proud democratic tradition. The people decide who serves as government.

Win or lose this looks like the people telling Dr Minnis what the council wouldnt tell him.

When FNMs were walking around confident that nobody would put the "corrupt" PLP back in power. Said over and over again they were misreading the data. As horrible as the PLP did last time, 45%+ of the population voted for them.

Added to that, DNA's and disillusioned PLPs voted FNM.

Added to that the number of FNMs asking what Minnis doing and asking for a leadership change was increasing. I predicted before COVID that FNMs would not show up to vote if the council did not remove Minnis

All bad news for the FNM.

i hope the results whichever side they fall on lead MPs to stop this Renward Wells style gushing and praising of whatever nonsense the PM does. Call a spade a spade. We will have a better country and the people you represent will thank you for representing them well

The next thing that needs to happen in the FNM, anyone who advised Minnis to hold this election needs to resign. Anyone who resisted removing Minnis needs to resign. Tonight.

It looks like the people will take care of the MPs who told us the results we got over the past 4 years was manner from heaven. The cost of sitting silent for 4 years. Wells, Robinson, Campbell, Dames, Lloyd

It was so careless for Minnis to call elections during a Covid surge and surge in deaths. Now it's all in vain. They still lost. How many people caught Covid today?

PREDICTIONS BASED ON PRIME INDICATOR OF ELECTIONS

It seems PLP will win the election based on a Prime Indicator constituency which have always gone to the winning matter! Congratulations to PLP Congrats to WW & BMc

I Tell the truth as it is!

1

@coakley4mical 2 years, 7 months ago

The prime indicator that has always indicated greater than 98% probability. Those polling divisions was determined earlier after 7pm with the opening results and it has not changed even with 25% of the polls casted in that combination. I talk 100% coincidence with cause & causality!

@coakley4mical 2 years, 7 months ago

Minor parties have failed to break the rank and any of those mention to move into a major party status Neither: Coalition of Independence - Lincoln Bain nor; DNA - Arinthia Komolafe Disappointing performance!

1

Exodus 2 years, 7 months ago

Disappointing performance by the people, for doing the same thing and expecting change. Hats off to the DNA and the Coalition, next generation will be different (independent thinker's)..

1

@coakley4mical 2 years, 7 months ago

@Exodus Woo! You should be banned from this forum for such thoughts!

You blaming the people because they, collectively; didn't choose your party favorite!

BLAME THOSE SMALL FAMILY FAVORITES AKA MINOR POLITICAL PARTY LEADERS OF THOSE MINOR POLITICAL PARTIES FOR DISTORTING THE REALITY AND FOR NOT DOING THEIR JOBS TO PRESENT A VIABLE ALTERNATIVE!

You think Pindling and the others back then in the 1960's had it easy going against Racism and Oppression?

The Bahamian people can smell feces/manure a mile away, and some of those minor and micro parties hat they were selling wasn't even good as fertilizer and the Bahamian People could tell that! Lincoln has no way to go because he won't be accepted back into the FNM, no matter how much he begs and Mc DNA in the same boat.

I wonder if @licks and @TopDude advise Minnis to call this election. It must be the dumbest move he's made to date. Based on what???

2

licks2 2 years, 7 months ago

Five years ago the FNM was making the same type of remarks you are making right now. . .governance do not stop. . .Davis made many promises. And if I was advising the former PM. . .HE WOULD NOT HAVE LISTENED TO ME "NO HOW"!!! Very few in that party would have listened to anybody. . .therein is their biggest "shooting in the foot" behaviour!!

This election was not one of "I want them". . .but one of "I een want them"!!

The FNM made a mess of things way before the election. . .yes! Just try and "advise" you party to "don't drop the ball". . .the fight een over yet. . .THE ECONOMIC WAR IS STILL GOING ON! This will turn south on yinna behinds in no time flat if yinna get back to yinna old ways!! Word to the wise!!

Just get to geverning and leave the dumb stuff for the FNM them to say. . .after all een that what the losers them do? We have a new government. . .get to work and shut ya mouth!! By the way, good luck to OUR new government!! THERE IS TOO MUCH WORK TO DO THAN TO BE TALKING JUNK WITH YOU!

oh wait he went back to the obnoxious at the end. it must be him. lol.

What would you like me to tell you? That China won the elections! That China will now run the country! The elections were unfair.

0

ThisIsOurs 2 years, 7 months ago

"unfair?? Nobody turned up to vote for Dr Minnis on the dumb date he selected. How is that unfair? People told you low turnout was likely if you didnt change leadership from 2 years ago. You did nothing. You told Dr Minnis he was great and not to change a thing. i blame you for your party's loss

1

Cobalt 2 years, 7 months ago

No no! The elections weren't unfair at all. Simply put, Hubert Minnis’ style of governing didn’t gel with the Bahamian people. Plain and simple.

1

ohdrap4 2 years, 7 months ago

That has flipflopped a couple times. He us leading by very little now.

Enough of doctors.

Wells had his 15 minutes of fame. He can live off his savings.

Sands is different I think. I started following him the night he represented the FNM at the gaming convention. What impressed me was how clear and intelligently he responded to everything that had nothing to do with medicine

0

joeblow 2 years, 7 months ago

@This Is Ours... the thrice married power hungry philanderer who sided with LBT when he thought it would benefit him and then sided with Minnis and is heavily supported by the Bay St Boys and wa involved in the Swabgate scandal, lacks the character this country needs in a leader (Brave doesn't have it either IMO). Bahamians seem not to be able to distinguish a persons image (what they project they are) from their character (who they actually are) and for this one reason we will continue to get goosied by corrupt egotistical grifters!

May God help us during the next 5 years!

1

ThisIsOurs 2 years, 7 months ago

Marriage is hard. dont know if you right or wrong about public image. All of us are flawed. MLK certainly was. I think its that on balance what good are you doing and does it overshadow the flaws. I like Sands.

0

@coakley4mical 2 years, 7 months ago

He doesn't and didn't impress one bit; in medicine and out of medicine and worst as a leader. The one good thing about Dr. Minnis is he is Dr. Sands cooler!

1

tell_it_like_it_is 2 years, 7 months ago

I think he lost and he is really greedy for power. Although, definitely not as bad as Minnis, I don't trust him. He will make his move for leader now.

All of a sudden the union problems finish. The unions and workers will stop striking, calling in sick and protesting. In return they will have a gun to the head of the Davis government. So let us expect a rapid increase in public sector spending, inflation and trouble.

0

The_Oracle 2 years, 7 months ago

Simply confirms that Bahamians vote against, not for. In the context of Hurricanes and Covid this administration had an uphill battle, and screwed up quite a bit in the process in their own right. But as long as Bahamians vote tribally we will flip flop, and continue to vote against personal arrogance. Neither party has reached beyond their loyal base or internal pecking order to elicit viable solutions to National issues. the appointments and positions awarded will tell us in short order if it is indeed a "new day" or the same old. One can hope.

2

ThisIsOurs 2 years, 7 months ago

Ive come to a conclusion that I think is correct. My instinct tells me so. It doesnt matter who's in power. Even if the COI or DNA had won. We will get what we've always gotten if the people dont find a way to hold politicians accountable from day 1. The change is in us.

An FNM defeat was inevitable with Minnis as leader. It is just a shame that the alternative was Brave Davis and the PLP.

The results are fine with me. I have been trying to think of what to do with my one acre of crown land from the COI, and hadn't yet come up with any plans. At least now i don't have to. My landlord is pleased also.

1

@coakley4mical 2 years, 7 months ago

RESPONSE TO @JOKEYJACK

Ha!! Ha!!! Look Lincoln Bain tried all he could to persuade the Bahamian people with the bait on the fish hook strategy! That is nothing more than a ploy to attract thirsty hungry people who are going thru extremely hard times. THAT'S CALLED TAKING ADVANTAGE OF SITUATION WITH PEOPLE! Do you know who gets caught on those fishing line. Hungry desperate people who have lost hope and faith. I call it The Jim Jones Guyana Tragedy Syndrome and it seems that Lincoln and Arinthia practice that with voters but only a small of the smallest fell into the snags of those things. A Hurricane coming and each of them want to tell the 2 little pigs we will be fine just make sure you have enough food and water in your hut.....

1

DDK 2 years, 7 months ago

AGREE 100%. Come on FNM. Surely you can FINALLY see that Minnis is NOT leadership material!

2

@coakley4mical 2 years, 7 months ago

What about the people that voted him back there? They needed to do a Perry Christie on him, if he was to truly learn a lesson. There was a lot of things that went apparently wrong with the elections something is not right! Even though the other party won; it doesn't hide the fact that there are incongruencies!

SUGGESTION: THE PERSON INCHARGE OF THE PARLIAMENTARY REGISTRY Should be fully investigated and charges brought against him. Something doesn't smell right and the smoke coming from the kitchen (PRD)!

0

John 2 years, 7 months ago

First one must congratulate Brave Davis and the PalP. For it was no easy or ordinary feat they accomplished by winning with such a landslide victory. Davis resisted the temptation to match Minnis and the FNM with gutter politics and obviously it put the PLP in favor with the Bahamian people. Brave must understand his honeymoon with the Bahamian people will be short because many are still in need of basic essentials like bread and water. Everyone will admit it took a miracle to sway the Bahamian people in a wave and into a brand new day and it will take even more miracles and prayers to deliver the country from its current conditions. No Ine can envy Brave and his new government as their task is not easy.

Good grief, Bahamians exchanges a dollar for 4 quarters

Since independence, the political direction of the Bahamas has been one direction

DOWNWARD

Tomorrow or 4 years from now nothing will change as Bahamians will call for the head of Davis, who's not the brightest in the PLP gene pool

2

2

tribanon 2 years, 7 months ago

Davis - PM

Wilchcombe - Minister of Tourism

Mitchell - Minister of Foreign Affairs

Sears - Attorney-General and/or Minister of Education

Hanna-Martin - Minister of Transport & Aviation

Etc., etc., etc...........

Am I having a serious case of déjà vu or what? Actually more like a really bad nightmare!

Oh well, can't say I didn't do my best to try steer voters away from their two-party mindset. Quite a few of the independent candidates would have helped provide a much better mix in parliament without the risk of Minnis not getting the spanking that he so fully deserved.

But thank God Minnis is at least no longer PM. Having pure evil remain mixed-in with corruption and incompetence would have been the absolute worst of all possible outcomes yesterday.

1

ThisIsOurs 2 years, 7 months ago

If Minnis had won I think we would have seen an out of control PM. He would have assumed he literally had absolute power and would have acted as such.

Who is the group of dummies who advised him to call this election? Maybe it was a mole...

2

@coakley4mical 2 years, 7 months ago

I UNDERSTAND YOUR DEJAVU, but some of those independent candidates or Minor Parties: Nano-Parties, Micro-Parties and Independents just on estimate there were about 252 candidates and roughly about less than 20% were independents. So that's a parliamentary registry that got $400/head that's more than $16,000 along just from Pico-Political Interest. But I digress; and I will respond to you via a riddle:

What do you call a mice that follows a blind mice?

Does anyone know the answer?
