EDITOR, The Tribune.
Thank you for granting me the opportunity to express my heartfelt appreciation to the officers of the Royal Bahamas Police Force who gave unselfishly of their time and talent to facilitate the Summer Band Camp, which was held July 5th-30th, 2010.
During the camp, we were taught ear training and music theory and practice.
We also engaged in numerous physical exercises to ensure that we were fit to perform with our instruments.
Throughout the month, we had opportunities to display our musicianship at the Independence tattoo, The Adventist basketball game, The Battle of The Bands, which we won and on Black Village Day. Our theme, "One Band, One Sound" came to light in our combined efforts to entertain our spectators. At the conclusion, our hard work was recognised during the awards ceremony and at a party held in our honour.
My experience at the camp was truly awesome! I made new friends and felt wonderful being a part of a very big family. Additionally, it greatly improved my confidence, ability and discipline as a drummer. I look forward, with great anticipation to next year's camp, and would like to profoundly thank Corporal 2515 Theodore Campbell (Band Director), Constable L Bailey (Drumlime Instructor), Constable 259 D Bethel, Corporal Dwight Rolle, Constable 1009 Rudolph Pratt, Reservist Constable 711 E Godet, WPC 3420 Ghandi Sherman, WPC 2432 Nadi Young and Corporal 2465 Eric Fowler for investing in the youth of our nation, in a most tangible way. God bless.
