EDITOR, The Tribune.

Please allow me the opportunity to place this article in your paper. We are The Caucus and there are some misconception about us. Mama used to say "if you want to know anything about something the easiest person to ask are those involved." We are a group of women, men, children, young professionals, Muslims, Rastafarian, etc. They say that we are a prejudiced group, but anytime the facts are presented this is what they say. All are invited to join The Caucus, but there are no Jews, Chinese, Greeks or white people in The Caucus and why is that? "Because loose goat don't know how a tie goat feel." They don't have the same problems as we do as black people. It is time for the black man's redemption.

The facts: There are 62 murders for the year all black, poor and from the inner-city we wonder what would happen if they were white people being killed? The town would be on lock down, police on every street corner. The point we are making for example when a few white persons went on Montagu dock and complained about the turtle being in the hot sun they went to the Fisheries Ministry and complained. A lifetime ban was put on turtles in this country, but our children are getting killed like flies and the Minister of National Security Mr Tommy Turnquest said on national TV "I ain't gat no gun" - so are the turtles more important to the FNM government than our children?

Why when the incident happened on Paradise Island some years ago where two Americans were killed months apart the then Prime Minister Mr Hubert Ingraham held a press conference in the police conference room with senior police officers he told them and the country: I'm in charge of these investigations, that is the attitude the FNM have when it comes to their white people. The Caucus says all people are equal in God's sight and are to be respected as human beings or the question is are we just here to serve them, but that's not God's purpose for our lives on this planet.

I wonder if we do our research it seems as if more people were killed under the FNM governance in 13 years than the PLP in 30 years.

Injustice again is the highest order, why is it the people in Harbour Island and Andros were having power outage with their generators for months, the people in Marsh Harbour, Abaco just start to experience power failure with their generator. Is it true that the FNM government took the three generators from Andros and put in Marsh Harbour, Abaco? The question is only white people in Marsh Harbour, Abaco, need to have air-condition? The solution is one generator could have gone to the three islands so everyone could get some air-condition too.

Title: The lies we tell ourselves...

If you can draw three parallels between the victims you are outraged over (black, poor, inner-city dwelling) yet choose to hold race as the pressing issue, it is time to stop fooling yourself into believing you're anything more than a bigot.
Take that victimized attitude back to America where it's actually applicable. All it does here is distract Bahamians from the actual problems.

Title: To the Caucus

Maybe the author of the letter " Time for the black man redemption" has been living in some remote part of Africa, maybe South Africa, here we are quite free to do what we like.....maybe too much. When he talks about crime he seems have forgotten that the drug culture started and flourish under the PLP, with the blessing of many high ranked PLP 'S . We are reaping what the PLP sowed , but of course we can always blame the "white man" , is an easy way out.

Title: Say what?

What racist drivel? And you call yourselves educated? Embarrassing that in 2010 this is the nonsense being propagated. Race has absolutely nothing to do with this. We are all Bahamians. Majority Rule happened in 1967. Our leaders are black males. What are you going on about? We are all human beings and Bahamians in this country. We all care about crime equally. We are all at a loss what to do about it. How do you tell young people not to kill each other over stupid things like a girl, shoes, a car or some perceived insult to pride?
