IN seven days of worship the Church of God Bahamas and Turks and Caicos is set to embark upon its 89th Annual National Convention with a new mission to spread the good news throughout the islands of the Bahamas.

The conference which begins on Monday, March 22 and runs until March 28, will be held at the Church of God Convention Centre on Joe Farrington Road with services beginning at 7 pm nightly.

The theme "Keeping the fire of Pentecost Alive" taken from Acts 2:37-39 is a fitting title for the convention with the celebration, time, of worship and unity of the body coming at a time in the church's ministry when exciting new ventures aimed at fulfilling its mandate-to evangelise the Bahamas and to disciple member of the body of Christ- are being launched.

"We want to bring back the church of the early days where people shared everything they had with one another. They lived in unity and this is the lifestlye that we want the church of today to adopt which is the reason why we chose this excerpt from the book of Acts," Bishop Humes said.

With each service Christians are encouraged to keep the fire ablaze for Jesus Christ.

On Monday Bishop John Humes, national overseer, will open the convention with his charge on a number of topical issues regarding the high level of crime and the home invasions.

"These issues need to be addressed so that the public will know how to deal with issues of crime in the Bahamas. It is a vexing issues that needs an immediate resolution," Bishop Humes told Tribune Religion.

The services will be broadcast live on the BCN (Bahamas Christian Network) channel 55.
