IN wake of horror news about the recent incidence of suicides occurring among people in this country, Bishop Elgarnet B Rahming, national overseer of the Church of God of Prophecy urged people at the 89th Annual Church of God of Prophecy Convention to not commit suicide and look to Jesus Christ for solace.

His address, comes at a time when the shocking news about the latest incidences of suicide are still fresh in the airwaves.

"We are all aware that unfortunately there is a growing trend of incidences of suicide in our country, particularly among the youth. I therefore say to persons who may be troubled and in despair to the extent that you are contemplating suicide don't do it. Suicide is final. There is no coming back to life to those who do it. Worst still, escaping the problems on this side leads only to facing bigger spiritual problems of eternal proportions on the other side," he said.

Instead of resorting to what may seem like an escape from the troubles this life brings, Bishop Rahming urged persons considering suicide to said to think about the choice being made: "For suicide is murder and Jesus said, 'No murder hath eternal life.'

And while there may be times where unforeseen circumstances become unbearable, he said that people should learn to vent by expressing themselves to someone who is willing to listen.

"If you feel you are so down and depressed that you cannot connect with the Lord, then seek help elsewhere. Don't commit suicide," Bishop Rahming said.

"Talk to somebody who can help you. Talk to me! Talk to anyone of our pastors, ministers or counselors. Talk to your prophet, priest, prophet or pastor! Talk to your close friend! Don't keep your feelings shut in! Don't commit suicide," he said.

Instead of using suicide as a way out Bishop Rahming said that looking to Jesus is the best way out of any cloudy and dark situation.

"Jesus is the better option. In Jesus you are given life; and the promise of a future of an abundant and better life reserved for the children of God. 'For I know the thoughts that I think toward you saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Don't commit suicide! Live my brother. Look to Jesus and live!," he said.
