Ten hundred dollar chairs

Published On:Wednesday, March 03, 2010

THIS year the Popop Gallery's focus is to experiment and to educate as it continues its series of invitational exhibitions related to getting back to basics. This year's Transforming Spaces exhibition will showcase dynamic designs.

The Gallery has invited 10 artists/designers to create a 'Chair' using a budget of 100 dollars. The only two criteria are that the 100 dollars be exhausted in one way or another; and that the chair be functional and available for sitting on during the exhibition.

Popop is excited by the unique idea of 'The Challenge' as they are asking the artists to challenge not only the interpretation of the problem but also the use of materials, the management of the funds and the balance of aesthetics and function.

Today's Poll

  • Yes - Bahamians have given the FNM and PLP chances and it's time we give someone else a chance to see what they can do for the country
  • No - Bahamians will never vote anything other than the FNM or PLP into power
  • Maybe - It depends on who is a part of this new organisation and what they offer that's different from the FNM and PLP
