FRIENDS of a 23-year-old mother-of-one who is believed to have committed suicide have expressed shock and disbelief at her death.
The body of Acassia Porter was discovered hanging from a ceiling by a leather belt on Monday evening at the home she shared with her young son on Quick Silver Drive, off Carmichael Road.
Ms Porter was taken to hospital by emergency services but pronounced dead on arrival.
Sources close to Ms Porter said she had appeared stressed last week and it was also revealed she had recently broke off an engagement.
Ms Porter's parents were too distraught to speak yesterday.
Reports yesterday claimed Ms Porter had left behind a suicide note for her family, however, police were reluctant to confirm these details, fearing it would "obstruct ongoing investigations."
It was also claimed Ms Porter's sister discovered an e-mail that suggested Ms Porter's plan to commit to suicide and alerted their parents.
Police will await the results of a coroner's report before officially classifying Ms Porter's death, however, officials say the evidence strongly suggests it was a suicide.
This comes just over a week after mother-of-four Deborah Smith, 51, was found hanging from a ceiling in her home on West Street.
Her father, 81-year-old Harold Pinto, said he did not know what may have led his daughter to take her own life but noted that she had been out of work for some time.
Police investigations are continuing.

Title: Young mother suicide
I taught Acassia at St. John's College before she went to Bahamas Academy and she was not the type of person to give up nor committ suicide. She was always a fighter and leaving a child behind, I don't think so. This is so sad.

i am a close friend of the younger sister and perosonally i dont think it was a suicide from the information i got from her sister all of the "FACTS" do not add up...it seem as though it was set up to look like a suicide....because even i as i saw cas prior the incident she did not look as if she was under any form of stress..

I have read the comments, all the facts are still coming in. The information so far indicates suicide, just broken up with a boy friend and so on. Thee have to be other contributing factors, at least, in my opinion.

how dare you say that she commited suicde when you havent gathered all the facts. the whole story is a lie down to her age. acassia porter did not commit suicide, she had a happy life, she loved her daughter very much and her family. she left her boyfriend because he was abusive. get your facts right before you make up a false story like this one.

I dont think that it is suicide, she left the boyfriend that she left. This thing about suisice letter or email, how do you know that she wasn't forced by her killer to send email and write a suicide note.The police do not do a proper investigation that is why so many people get away with murder, because they know are police are so dumb.

A mother's motivation is usually her young child/children. I dont like the way this sound. This looks like another one of the Darcy Knowles suicide....dont like this at all...I know sometimes I am depressed to the point where I think about suicide too but its my kids that has kept me holding on...but i dont think she killed herself
