THE HEART Ball Committee resumed its preparations for next year's annunal Heart Ball after taking a break for summer recess. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the The Sir Victor Sassoon (Bahamas) Heart Foundation which was established in 1961 by Lady Evelyn Sassoon in memory of her late husband Sir Victor Sassoon, who died of a heart condition.

The Heart Foundation is a non-profit organisation that has survived five decades with financial support from the general public, trust and private sponsors. This success story is not common for profitable organisations and non-profit organizations, which do not receive government funding.

However, The Heart Foundation has weathered many storms and hopes to continue on.

The main goal of The Heart Foundation has always been to assist persons with heart care. Over the years, due to many challenges, The Heart Foundation has narrowed this goal to primarily assist children, with the hope of never turning anyone away.

The Heart Foundation works in conjunction with The Bahamas Heart Association to preventively educate and inform persons about heart care and heart healthy lifestyles. The Heart Ball Committee is the fundraising arm of The Heart Foundation. Over the next few months they hope to host many fundraising events to obtain finances necessary for heart care and repair, ranging from surgeries to treatments. The two major events that they will host are: The Annual Tea Party and Fashion Show to be held on November 21 and The Annual Heart Ball to be held February 19, 2011.
