THE Parliamentary Registration Department is launching a voter registration drive to compile information for a new voters list.

Parliamentary Commissioner Errol Bethel said everyone intending to apply for registration must satisfy a Revising Officer that they qualify.

Voters must:

* be a citizen of the Bahamas

* be at least 18 years old

* be subject to no legal incapacity

* have resided in a particular constituency for at least three months

"Revising Officers have the right to request documentary evidence that applicants are qualified to be registered," said Mr Bethel.

He urged all eligible citizens to prepare for registration and to register when the time comes.

An announcement regarding the start of voter registration will be made soon, Mr Bethel said.
