BISX-listed food retail group, AML Foods, is looking to take over the former City Markets store in downtown Freeport and create around 50 jobs, Tribune Business was told last night.
Details were sketchy, but it is thought the store - if it does go ahead - will incorporate some elements from its recently-opened Solomon's Fresh Market store in New Providence, with an opening eyed for summer 2012.
In a recent interview, Gavin Watchorn, AML Foods' president and chief executive, said the company remained "open" to expanding the Solomon's Fresh Market concept elsewhere in the Bahamas, hinting that New Providence probably had room for one more outlet - likely out east.
However, the company was more focused on getting the Old Fort Bay Town Centre location to 100 per cent operational capacity.
"We've just opened this and want to bed it in, and I don't think you jump into something like this straight away," Mr Watchorn told Tribune Business. "But if an opportunity arises, and it would really work well for is, yes, sure we would explore it."
