EDITOR, The Tribune.
ELECTION season is upon us once again. This important event is commonly referred to by the general public as "Silly Season", but to be honest, "Stupid Season" is a more accurate description, because every time this five year event comes along, decency, common sense, brotherhood, and Christian values go straight out the window, and stupidity, ignorance, immorality and yes, even violence, take centre stage.
Even though I am by no means a supporter of the Free National Movement (FNM), I have sworn that I will never, ever vote or ever support the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP). Why? Because of the way both their supporters, as well as party members, behave. I would even go as far as saying that the PLP in my opinion is the party for degenerates, thugs, and disturbingly uneducated people who are completely devoid of good behavioral skills.
I read with disgust, anger, shame and disappointment a report in this very paper, dated Monday, March 19, 2012, a report that supporters of the Free National Movement were attacked by "you - know - who", where the victims were allegedly sprayed in the face with a fire extinguisher. FNM candidate for East Grand Bahama Peter Turnquest stated that his daughter, as well as members of his campaign team were injured in said alleged attack, and has called on the PLP to control their supporters as election fever heats up. My advice to Mr Turnquest: don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen.
As I have stated earlier, I am not a supporter of the FNM, but should they win this election, I would not feel too bad about it, because it would mean that the PLP certainly did not win. Give credit to the PLP though; they are certainly doing their darned best to win this election, with their non-stop campaigning and flashy political ads. But if they continue to behave like ogres, they can kiss whatever dreams (pipe dreams, I hope) of ever winning this election good-bye, because I, along with many other sensible people in this country, most certainly will not vote for them.
