A SUPREME Court jury will pass judgment today on 36-year-old Prince McPhee, who is standing trial in connection with the 47th murder of 2010.
After Justice Bernard Turner summarises the evidence, the 12-member jury will deliberate on whether McPhee is innocent or guilty of killing Bradley Ferguson.
On June 26, 2010, Ferguson was shot following an argument with another man, alleged to be McPhee.
Witnesses said the argument started after McPhee accused Ferguson of putting his hands on Pearl Johnson, the victim's niece.
The court heard that, following an encounter with Ferguson, Johnson called McPhee, her boyfriend, told him what happened between herself and her uncle, and asked to be picked up.
It was alleged McPhee went to find Ferguson, which resulted in a confrontation.
Ferguson was shot multiple times but McPhee testified that he was not the killer. The incident took place in Sequoia Street, Pinewood Gardens.
Yesterday, in closing submissions, defence attorney Murrio Ducille said his client was not the shooter. He told the jury the prosecution only presented one witness, Claudine Symonette, who claimed to have seen what transpired. He said the woman fabricated the story, saying she missed out a number of details when describing the shooter. He also said the prosecution failed to produce any evidence to support her testimony.
Prosecutor Eucal Bonaby contended that inaccuracies in Ms Symonette's description of the shooter did not mean she was lying. He said her account was supported by two other witnesses.
She said that, in the heat of the argument, McPhee pulled out a gun and shot Ferguson. Ferguson, she said, tried to get away but was pursued and shot four more times.
