Two hunted after man killed in shooting

POLICE are searching for two men after a drive-by shooting claimed the life of a 36-year-old man.

The victim was at Royal Palm Street and Allamander Lane when he was approached by a black two-door Honda Civic and subsequently shot, according to reports.

The country's 40th murder victim had not yet been formally identified by police last night but he is believed to be Anthon Knowles, a resident of Kennedy sub-division.

Last night, circumstances surrounding the shooting were still unclear, according to Superintendent Paul Rolle, officer in charge of Central Detective Unit.

In a separate attack, five men were taken into custody after a man was beaten, stabbed, and shot by an armed mob.

The 25-year-old Yellow Elder Gardens man was at a cemetery in Western New Providence when he was attacked shortly before 4pm on Saturday.

The victim received a gunshot injury to his back, stabbing wounds to his body and was in a serious condition at hospital, according to police last night.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 919, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers at 328-TIPS.
