Men in court over PI drug charges

TEN men appeared in Magistrate's Court yesterday charged with committing drug offences on Paradise Island last week.

Kevin Clarence Mullings, 37; Duville Walkes, 34; Terrence Nakia Fox, 36; Rod Montgomery Lewis, 47; Vernon Derrick Shepherd, 28; Nelson Major Jr, 19; Lynden Alburn Armbrister, 31; Sidney Clemend Huyler, 21; Denzel Brian McKenzie, 40; and Daryl Raymond Humes, 42 were the defendants.

Mullings, Walkes, Lewis, Shepherd, Major, Huyler, McKenzie, and Humes all pleaded not guilty to charges of possession of dangerous drugs with intent to sell, soliciting a person for the sale of drugs, and supplying drugs.

Fox pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to supply dangerous drugs and soliciting a person for the sale of drugs.

Mullings is charged with supplying cocaine and Walkes is charged with supplying amphetamines. In addition, all but one of the men is charged in connection with the discovery of marijuana.

Armbrister was charged with dispensing prescription drugs without a licence.

However, his arraignment was delayed as Magistrate Carolita Bethel questioned whether the drug in question was oxycodone, a narcotic - as that would warrant different charges.

Walkes' alleged involvement took place on April 18 and 20. Fox and Lewis' alleged involvement took place on April 18 and 19. McKenzie and Humes' alleged involvement took place on April 19, while Huyler,

Armbrister, Major, and Mullings' alleged involvement took place on April 18.

Fox was the only defendant granted bail in the amount of $5,000 while the remaining men were remanded into custody until their next court appearance.
