PRIME MINISTER Hubert Ingraham said yesterday he is confident the FNM will take Bain and Grants Town from the PLP in the May 7 elections.
While touring Centreville, Mr Ingraham said despite Bain and Grants Town being considered a "PLP stronghold" he feels the FNM has grown enough support to "turn the community red."
"I think my chances in Bain and Grants Town are very good. I went back to there Saturday past and I will be back there again before elections. We have got Bain and Grants Town in our sights. We are hoping to put them on board on May 7th," he said.
"I am not making that same predication in Centreville, but I do think we will do well. We have a good candidate. She did well last time and she will do well this time.
"But Bain and Grants Town I am putting in our column. We have got it in the bag, but the bag isn't tied yet. It is still possible for it to get out but I intend to tie that bag. We are the best people for the job and we have their best interest at heart. If they want to see over-the-hill transformed and developed and jobs created, schools built and opportunities for young people, they will vote FNM."
The Prime Minister also accused Perry Christie and the PLP of being "copycats" by having rally's and events on the same night as the FNM's.
He said: "Whenever we announce we will have a rally they do the same thing. Since our rally in Freeport, Grand Bahama has been planned and announced long ago, now they have decided over the last day or so that they want to have a mass rally in Freeport on the same night as ours.
"They are copy cats and they are deathly afraid of PLP's hearing our message. We don't mind FNM's hearing theirs, but they don't want PLP's to hear our message. They are convinced that I have credibility with the PLP to the extent to which they will keep them from hearing me and keep them locked up."
When asked if he thought the DNA stood a chance in the upcoming elections the Prime Minister said: "I do not discuss them people, I talk about real political parties and my real opponents." He said he is confident the FNM will win the May 7th elections by a comfortable margin.
