Two executives with the Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA) have been elected to the Board of a Caribbean accounting organisation.
Zelma Wilson, BICA’s first vice-president, and Jasmine Davis, BICA’s president, have been elected as director and alternate director, respectively, to serve on the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Caribbean (ICAC) Board for 2012-2013.
The elections were held during ICAC’s 63rd Board of Directors Meeting in St John’s, Antigua.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Caribbean (ICAC) is the recognised regional organisation that serves the interests of accountants and professionals in the financial sector within the region.
It promotes internationally acceptable standards and best practices, through leadership, research and continuing professional education. ICAC comprises seven member bodies (the national accountancy institutes of Barbados, the Bahamas, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Belize, and the Eastern Caribbean), and one associate member in Suriname. It has a network of 3,500 accountancy professionals in the region.
BICA is the regulatory body for the accounting profession in the Bahamas, and has more than 500 members and over 300 licensees.
