NFL player Chris Canty paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Perry Christie yesterday after hosting a sports camp.
Using the platform of sports to enhance youth development, the Chris Canty Foundation and its team of 83 volunteers are working in the Bahamas for a second time.
Around 50 children participated in the week-long camp, which was held in Stapleton Gardens.
Mr Canty, a defensive end with the New York Giants, said it was a great experience and he plans on making the camp “bigger and better” next year.
“We wanted to teach them teamwork, leadership and hard work,” he said.
Welcoming Mr Canty, Prime Minister Christie said the Ministry of Tourism intends to make a “major effort” in the field of sports tourism.
“We want to continue to attract the movers and shakers,” he said.
