A BELGIAN man who supplies air conditioning units appeared in Magistrate’s Court yesterday accused of stealing more than $200,000 from two customers.
However, 51-year-old Jean Paul Michelsen, of Yorkshire Drive, denied the two counts of stealing by reason of service during his appaarance before Magistrate Guilimina Archer in Court 10.
It was firstly claimed that between Janaury 24 and May 1, 2012, he stole $161,790 belonging to Carlton Wilkinson, which he had access to by reason of service.
Is was also claimed that between April 12, 2011 and April 3, 2013, stole $55,145 from L’Neil Corriveau, which he also had access to by reason of service.
Michelsen is accused of being contracted to bring in air conditioning units for these customers, but never doing so. He denied the charges, pleaded not guilty and elected to be tried in Magistrate’s Court.
He was granted $15,000 bail in the Corriveau case and $25,000 bail in the Wilkinson case. Both matters have been adjourned to July 15 for trial.
Tonique Lewis, sitting in for defending attorney Roberto Reckley, appeared for the defendant.
