SANDALS Resorts International is moving ahead with plans to construct its new corporate headquarters in the Bahamas, the Prime Minister recently revealed, adding that the move would provide additional jobs in marketing, accounting and information technology (IT )services.
“Sandals and Unique vacations are expected to break ground on their new corporate headquarters in New Providence, which will provide many additional jobs in marketing, accounting and IT services,” Mr Christie said.
“The Sandals group has made a commitment to locate its headquarters in the Bahamas, and now to build that headquarters in The Bahamas,” he added, during a Bahamas Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA) led corporate strategies for leadership and talent development forum.
Unique Vacations, the global representative for Sandals and Beaches Resorts, is the marketing, public relations, advertising and IT portion of Sandals Resorts International.
Mr Christie added: “Sandals has a continuing demand for suitable and qualified trainees to enter their managerial and butler programmes.”
He said the 500-room Reef Village in Freeport is being renovated into a five-star Blue Diamond Resort, with discussions ongoing with other resort and casino operators relative to expansion and upgrades.
“The 500-room Reef Village is being renovated into a five-star Blue Diamond Resort supported by expanded airlift from Canada and the United States,” the Prime Minister said.
“It will open next month and create some 1,000 jobs. Positive discussions are progressing with other resort and casino operators in Freeport, which during the course of 2014 will result in further expansion and upgrade to the tourism product in that city and create several hundred more jobs in the hospitality sector.”
