POLICE are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an elderly man yesterday afternoon.
According to Superintendent Theophilus Cunningham, officer in charge of the North Eastern Division, the man was found dead in his home off of East Avenue around 12.30pm.
Supt Cunningham refused to reveal exactly where the body was found, if there were any apparent wounds, or if police suspect foul play.
He classified the case as a “death investigation”.
However, The Tribune understands the man is 56-year-old Steven Treco. Sources close to the investigation said a family member discovered the body on the bathroom floor with a vinyl clothes line tied around his neck.
Anyone with relevant information is asked to contact police by calling 911 or 919; the Central Detective Unit on 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 328-TIPS.
Police also revealed that they detained a 25-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman in connection with the discovery of an unlicensed firearm and dangerous drugs.
According to reports, at around 10.30pm on Monday, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit, acting on information, executed a search warrant at the suspects’ Emanuel Drive home.
During a search, the officers found a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition. They also discovered a quantity of suspected marijuana.
Investigations are ongoing.

Fifty-five?! Fifty-five is not elderly--unless you're a 20 or 30-something writer, I guess. Eighty-five is elderly. Sheesh...

The police are a constituted body of persons empowered by the state to enforce the law, protect property, and limit civil disorder. They are not "made" for banking safely :)
