Flag continues its journey

THE National Independence Flag journey continues over the weekend, and more events are scheduled to celebrate the 40th anniversary.

Tomorrow the flag is due at Eleuthera – Governor’s Harbour and then Rock Sound before being returned to Nassau in the afternoon.

On Monday it arrives in Moss Town, Exuma, around 6am and on Tuesday is due in Rum Cay and Cat Island.

Today has been deemed a national flag/colours day, and Jack Thompson, Chairman of the 40th Anniversary Independence Secretariat, has urged everyone to wear the national colours today and every Friday until Friday, July 5.

He has also encouraged people to drape their homes, streets, neighbourhoods and businesses in the colours of the national flag and to decorate the interior of businesses and workplaces in the flag’s colours.

Events to mark the 40th anniversary over the next few days include a wedding fashion event at the Hilton Hotel on Monday, the Ultimate Gospel Experience from June 20 to 23 and a ‘Rush to Independence’ next Friday.
