THE Eleuthera Junior Baseball League of Rock Sound continued with game three of its 2013 Championship Series in all three divisions in Spanish Wells on Saturday with the Spanish Wells teams sweeping two of the three divisions over Rock Sound.
Here’s a summary of the matches played:
Coach Pitch Division
The Spanish Wells Hook ‘n’ Jook defeated the Rock Sound Coco Plums 11- 6 to make it a clean sweep in the best three out of five games to win the championship. The Hook ‘n’ Jook’s MVP slugger “Dre” led the attack with two big home runs.
Minor Division
The Spanish Wells Sluggers blanked the Rock Sound Sports Center Marlins 9-0 to make it a clean sweep in the best three out of five games to win the championship. The Sluggers put seven runs on the board in the top of the first inning and never looked back. The Sluggers’ pitcher Dominic Pinder gave up two hits and struck out 10 Marlins for the win. The Spanish Wells Sluggers are expected to attend the BBF Nationals in Freeport this year.
Junior Division
Spanish Wells Harbourside Contenders bounced back from a 2-0 deficit in the series to defeat the Rock Sound NuView Stingrays 12-2. The win by the Harbourside Contenders gives them a 2-1 series lead. Play is slated to continue between these two teams in Rock Sound this weekend.
Both the Spanish Wells Harbourside Contenders and the Rock Sound Sports Center Marlins are expected to attend the BBF Nationals in Freeport this year.
