BEC officials apologised yesterday after power services were disconnected for three hours when several of their units “tripped offline” around 5.30pm on Monday.
Electricity supply to the affected areas of Eastern and Western New Providence were restored by 8.30pm.
“Immediately, teams commenced an effort to return the units to service and to secure additional generation from units not in service at the time,” a statement from the corporation read.
“Supply was restored to several areas within an hour of the initial outage and supply was fully restored to all areas by 8.30 pm.
“While the cause of the generator trip is still being investigated, BEC maintains that it was an isolated incident and there are no generation issues being experienced at this time.
“BEC apologises to its customers affected by the outage on Monday and assures all customers that it remains committed to providing a safe and reliable source of electricity across the country.”
