DISCUSSING a wide range of labour issues, from the much talked about 7-day work week proposition, to the upcoming Tripartite Debate in Parliament, to the proposed privatisation of Bahamasair, Shane Gibson met with representatives of the Trade Union Congress last week.
Also discussed were: the Nurses’ Contract, BEC, Water and Sewerage, Air Traffic Controllers and various industrial concerns within the hotel sector and community at large.
Heading the TUC delegation was its president Obie Ferguson, TUC director of communications Fred Munnings, executive director Dr Thomas Bastian and general secretary Tyrone Morris.
Minister Gibson was joined by Marco Rolle, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Labour and National Insurance; Harcourt Brown, Director of Labour; and Robert Farquharson, labour consultant as he welcomed union representatives of the 12 union affiliates which fall under the umbrella of the TUC.
The TUC’s Mr Ferguson thanked Mr Gibson for giving affiliates an opportunity to meet with him.
