TOMORROW night, Bahamian wine lovers will have the opportunity to sip, sample and learn more about wine and the food that should accompany it, all the while being entertained by a local jazz band, during an unique tasting event.

The Burns House Group of Companies will host a ‘Ruffino Wine Lover’s Tasting’, where patrons can sample white and red wine offerings from the winery that has been producing wines for more than 130 years.

The tasting event will be held at Butler & Sands in Caves Village from 6pm to 9pm.

The band Jam Session will provide entertainment throughout the course of the evening.

“The event is an informal wine tasting for the wine lovers and enthusiasts in the community,” said Ann-Marie Romer, Stansfeld Scott brand manager.

“We want to create an atmosphere that is engaging as well as structured in a sense, whereby there is wine that is paired with the food and that will be gradual progression.”

During the event, representatives of the Ruffino will be on hand to educate people and give a brief history of the winery.

As this is the first tasting Burns House has done for the brand in the last few years, they are anticipating the event will be a worthwhile experience.

“This is the first tasting that we have done for the brand within the last three or so years. We have not done any tastings with dinners with the wine itself,” said Ms Romer.

Some wine lovers, she said, are always unsure what kind wine should accompany a nice lunch or dinner. At the event, guests will get some pointers on what food goes well with a particular wine.

The wines will also be paired with hors d’oeuvres prepared by Compass Point chefs.

“The chef has also agreed to do a live cooking demo and will infuse the wine with the preparation of the food. We are gearing up for the event and we are excited to host the event,” said Ms Romer.

“For anyone that loves wine, wants to listen to jazz music and have not even tried Italian wines and they want to do so, then this event is for them. This is an incredible event that we have put together for the wine enthusiasts in the community. Since we are combining food with great wine, we believe we will have a very successful event.”

The tasting event will pair the Ruffino Orvieto Classico with snapper chive; the Ruffino Nobile De Montepulciano with pork kabobs; the Ruffino Chianti Aziano with stuffed artichoke and goat cheese; the Ruffino Chianti Reserva Ducale with lemon butter shrimp and the Ruffino Chianti Florentine with beef satay.
