A MAN accused of fatally stabbing another man was denied bail in Magistrate’s Court yesterday after being charged with manslaughter.
Don Andrew Wallace, 26, of Yellow Elder, appeared before Magistrate Andrew Forbes accused of intentionally causing the death of Mario Allen on April 5 by means of unlawful harm.
On the night in question, there was an argument at a home on Eneas Street, off Meadow Street, where there was a barbecue and children’s party underway.
There was an exchange of words between Allen and another man before Allen was stabbed multiple times in the chest and upper body. When Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene, his lifeless body was lying in the street.
Wallace, the alleged culprit, was not required to enter a plea to the indictable offence.
Magistrate Forbes told him his case would be fast-tracked to the Supreme Court for trial through service of a Voluntary Bill of Indictment.
He was told that the date for this would be given on May 23, his next appearance in the Magistrate’s Court.
The magistrate denied him bail and remanded him to Her Majesty’s Prison until the completion of his trial. However, he advised him of his right to apply for bail to the Supreme Court if he so wished.
Wallace was not represented by counsel at yesterday’s arraignment.
