Rising prices

EDITOR, The Tribune.

It was good to see even the propaganda machine of ZNS report that Price Control in recent weeks have found that the majority of our food supermarkets are holding to Price Control pricing and there have not been any violations.

It was interesting to hear from the Chief Inspector that they have noticed that the usual price level of Price Controlled items, usually considerably lower than the Price Control Price are now a lot closer to the maximum permitted price clearly the supermarket operators are having to do this to off-set increase cost of operations.

The media, everyone seems to have forgotten in the last Budget Business Licence fees - Bank Licence fees were considerably increased so who should we be blaming for the perception that food prices are going up? Your readers make your own choice, but I know who is to blame.

Why is it that MPs do not understand that business does not pay taxes?
It seems the Minister of State Finance is the new VAT messenger – a little advice Minister – arrogance will get you absolutely nowhere.

It is the VAT Department that is avoiding any rational discussion... the public are totally blind except we are told we have to have VAT or we sink – that is only an opinion.
