19-year-old arrested in rape investigation

POLICE have arrested a 19-year-old man from Pinewood Gardens in connection with a rape investigation. Police said the suspect, a resident of Sugar Apple Street, was taken in around noon on Monday. Officers from the Flying Squad Unit, acting on intelligence, made the arrest.

• HANDGUN AND 
AMMUNITION SEIZED

FOUR men were taken into custody following the seizure of a handgun by police on Monday, police said yesterday.

According to reports, shortly after 8am a team of officers from the Flying Squad acting on intelligence executed a search warrant at a home at Rolle Avenue off Wulff Road. Police said they allegedly found a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition at the residence. The four men are expected to appear in court this week to be formally charged.

• AMERICAN 
ARRESTED

A teenage boy from Florida was arrested on Monday afternoon after police claim they found marijuana in his possession.

Police said the 19-year-old from Port St Lucie, Florida, was searched by officers from the Paradise Island station while in the area of East Bay and Fowler Streets just after 2pm.

He is expected to be charged in court this week.

• HOUSEBREAKERS CAUGHT

Police have reported that 10 men, who were wanted by police for a number of housebreakings, were arrested during a police operation in the Fox Hill area on Monday evening.

Another 12 people were arrested by Mobile Division officers during saturation patrols on Monday night. The arrests included four for breach of the Immigration Act; three for outstanding criminal warrants; two for stealing; one arrest for assaulting a police officer; one arrest for assault and an arrest for burglary. Additionally, 31 drivers were cited for various traffic violations.

• HANDGUN SEIZED BY POLICE IN ANDROS

Andros police have found a handgun at an abandoned building in the Well Fields located on a track road at Red Bays, North Andros. The officers found the weapon on Monday just after 2:30pm. No one was arrested and investigations continue.
