AXED Senator John Bostwick Jr must wait another four months before the expected start of his ammunition possession trial.
The case was expected to begin in September, but at the time Magistrate Andrew Forbes granted an adjournment to Crown prosecutors who were not in a position to proceed.
However, the presiding magistrate was not sitting for yesterday’s date as he is out of the jurisdiction.
The case was adjourned yesterday to April 7, 2015.
Bostwick was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt for the alleged possession of ten live rounds of .22 ammunition that were found on Saturday, May 17.
On the day in question, airport security allegedly discovered a quantity of ammunition in his luggage during a routine check while in the domestic section of the Grand Bahama International Airport.
An X-ray machine security officer noticed a suspicious object in the bag allegedly carried by the 42-year-old and alerted the police at the airport.
The officers checked the bag. It is alleged that it contained 10 rounds of .22 ammunition.
The senator was taken into custody and flown to Nassau where he was held at the Central Detective Unit.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was released on $9,000 bail.
Bostwick’s position as a Free National Movement senator was revoked two days after the arraignment.
