Cable Bahamas contractor suspended amid allegations

CABLE Bahamas last night suspended its relationship with a “local advertising contractor” pending the outcome of a police investigation into a matter that burst on social media this week.

In a brief statement, Cable Bahamas said it had also decided to suspend all advertising involving the contractor, which The Tribune understands is around 20 to 25 per cent of its total.

Cable Bahamas head of marketing David Burrows said the decision came with a view to maintaining the integrity of the investigations.

“At the end of the day,” Mr Burrows said, “it is an ongoing investigation and we don’t want to do anything that would jeopardise the police investigation.

“We will make another move when the police have done their work.”

The statement from Cable Bahamas read: “As a 100 per cent Bahamian-owned company, Cable Bahamas has a vested interest in the community and supporting local talent. Cable Bahamas has become aware of a matter involving one of our local advertising contractors. It is our understanding that the matter is being investigated by the relevant authorities. Cable Bahamas has decided to suspend all related advertisements and the current relationship with the contractor until such investigation is completed.”
