THE eNue Magazine team celebrated five years of existence with the launch of a new single titled “You Can Be”.

The song is based on the vision of eNue which touts itself as a magazine that focuses on purpose and encourages a ‘lifestyle of wholeness’. The magazine provides fashion tips, health and fitness, inspirational and spiritual articles.

Antonia Lightbourne, who came up with the idea for eNue Magazine, said the “You Can Be” single was produced and co-written by popular singer Sammie Starr. It also features members of the eNue team, including Malikah Pinder, Davian Chase and Janiqua Armbrister.

“We were getting ready to celebrate five years, and given that eNue is filled with a lot of singers I thought that it would be pretty awesome for us to release a single for our fifth year. I contacted Sammie Starr and he was like, ‘OK, let’s make it happen’. So members of our team came together, we went in studio and everything was done on the spot the day we decided to go in the studio,” she told In Ya Ear.

Antonia said the concept behind “You Can Be” is to encourage people to reach their fullest potential.

“The whole idea of the song is that when a person hears the song they can know that you can be who God says that you can be. God created you with greatness on the inside. It was a great experience and it was even better to not have to go outside eNue to find the singers and the talent to make it happen,” she said.

Releasing music that speaks to the vision of the magazine is the latest of several ventures for eNue. This is something Antonia said the group will be doing on a consistent basis from now on.

“After we did the song with Sammie, he said, ‘Why don’t we do something where you collaborate with me and we actually produce songs with the eNue members?’ Those who collaborated with him on ‘You Can Be’ are just three of the many singers we have who are part of our team. We will be doing some more collaboration with his record label and produce even more songs with our members,” she said.

A music video is also in the works for “You Can Be”, she said.

“This is something that I always wanted to do. At most of our eNue events people have always asked when are we going to do a single or a CD. To be able to do this for our fifth birthday is just amazing. The beautiful thing about all of this is we did not have to pay a dollar for anything. Everyone just wanted to help us and support us in that way,” she said.

In the near future, eNue plans embark on tours to the Family Islands to share its message of purpose and greatness.

“We are working on a tour in the Family Island, and the name of the tour is Rate PG (Purpose and Greatness), and we want to hit as many Family Islands as possible with the message of purpose and greatness. I think it is so important that our young people understand that they were created with a purpose and understand that they have greatness on the inside of them,” she said.
