AN American woman of Fort Myers, Florida, was arrested at the airport for allegedly failing to declare nearly $70,000 in cash, police said.
The 51–year-old woman was arrested shortly after 3pm on Monday.
Police said the woman was about to return to the United States when US Customs and Border Patrol officials detained her at the Preclearance Departure Lounge at the Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) for allegedly failing to declare $69,739.
The woman is expected to appear in court this week to face formal charges.
Ammunition seizure
POLICE in Exuma seized more than 100 rounds of ammunition found hidden in a plastic bag in bushes.
Around 1pm on Monday, officers in Exuma, acting on intelligence, went to Williams Town where they uncovered the ammunition.
No one was taken into custody but investigations are continuing.
Arrest
AN 18–year-old youth of Sunlight Cottage is in custody after he is accused of stealing a cell phone on Saturday.Police said that around 11pm, a man was walking in the area of the Mall at Marathon, when two men snatched his cell phone and fled on foot.
A short while later, officers from the Mobile Division arrested a suspect after they found the stolen cell phone in his possession.
Investigations are ongoing.
Car theft
TWO armed men stole a man’s car shortly after the victim had arrived home, police said.
The victim had just pulled up to his home on Baldwin Avenue just after midnight Tuesday when two men in a white van, armed with a handgun, robbed him of his 2006 Infinity vehicle, license number 3343 and sped off.
Investigations continue.
