Rotary Club of East Nassau. - The Rotary Club of East Nassau recently recognised five worthy individuals for their tireless work in the community with the presentation of Paul Harris Fellow recognitions at a Rotary Foundation Gala event held at Government House under the patronage of Dame Marguerite Pindling, Governor General of the Bahamas.

In the presence of the District Governor for Rotary District 7020, Paul Brown, and District Governor Elect Felix Stubbs Paul Harris Fellows were bestowed upon:

• Valentino “Scrooge” Brown for his work in the inner city communities of Bain And Grants Town.

• Paul Cartwright for his community service work as a member of the Rotary Club of East Nassau.

• Basil Christie for service with the Bahamas Special Olympics organisation Clarice Granger for years of dedicated service to the Girl Guides and countless other community service-based organistations.

• Marian Baghel for her commitment to improving literacy in the Bahamas through Project Read.

The Paul Harris Fellow Recognition, named after the founder of Rotary, is a way of acknowledging a person for either outright financial support of The Rotary Foundation and its programs or, as in these cases, others in whose name a donation of $1,000 has been made to the Foundation in recognition of their dedication and/or selflessness is working to enrich the lives of others. The recipient gets an honor and praise for their effort while at the same time, great work is funded as a direct result of their actions. It is a great way to recognise someone and continue Doing Good in The World (the motto of The Rotary Foundation) at the same time.
