Teens prepare for Christian Youth Talent Jam

BAHAMIAN teenagers are preparing to take centre stage at the annual Christian Youth Talent Jam tomorrow at the Diplomat Centre at 7.30pm.

The highly anticipated event is expected to attract a wide cross section of talent representing a number of local churches and high schools from throughout Nassau and the Family Islands.

Co-ordinated and produced by Total Youth Church (TYC) under the direction of newly installed Youth Pastor Lavard ‘Manifest’ Parks, Talent Jam is designed to provide a creative platform for undiscovered talent to express their God-given talent in a variety of styles and formats, including singing, dancing, drama, poetry, comedy and spoken word.

Participants must be a born again Christians, aged 12 to 23, a member of a local church, and produce a written or verbal reference from their youth pastor or senior pastor and be living in accordance with biblical standards.

There is an entry fee of $25 for individuals, $45 for groups of two to five and $70 for groups of six or more. Entry fees must be paid prior to the event.

Contestants will be limited to individual or small groups and each contestant will be judged on content, talent, originality, presentation and stage presence.

Performers will be allowed to perform one selection of up to five minutes in length, with the exception of the dance and drama performances, which will be allowed up to seven minutes each. Contestants can perform original or adapted material, however additional points will be awarded for original compositions.

There will also be prizes and surprises, with the overall winner landing a performance spot on the next Live 242 Untapped national talent show. There will also be special live performances from Marlin Award winners Lyrically Blessed and Landlord as well as newcomer Betrum O Bubbler. Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door.
