Two in hospitals after shootings

TWO men were left in hospital on Wednesday after being shot in separate incidents on Wednesday, police said.

Shortly after 7pm, a man was involved in an argument with a man he knows.

Police said the victim was shot in his right leg. The suspect fled the area on foot.

The victim was taken to hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

Two hours later, shortly before 9pm, a man was at Ross Corner, when he was shot several times in his body by a group of men involved in an argument.

The victim was taken to hospital, where he is listed in serious condition.

Investigations are ongoing.

Armed robberies

POLICE are seeking the public’s help in solving three armed robberies that occurred on Wednesday.

The first incident occurred just after 3pm when two men armed with handguns robbed a food store located at Boyd Road of cash before fleeing on foot.

In the second incident, shortly before 8pm, a man was driving through Windsor Lane in his 2013 Hyundai vehicle, when two men armed with handguns robbed him of his car and sped off.

Police recovered the vehicle on Fowler Street a short while later.

No arrests have been made in this incident.

In the third incident, shortly after 8pm, two men armed with handguns robbed a business in Grays, Long Island, of a large amount of cash before fleeing in an unidentified vehicle.

Investigations are continuing.

Police are appealing to anyone with information regarding these incidents to anonymously call 919 or Crime Stoppers at 328-TIPS (8477) or 1-242-300-8476 in the Family Islands.

Two men arrested

POLICE arrested two men for questioning in connection with rape and attempted murder investigations.

The first suspect was arrested shortly before 11pm on Tuesday. Flying Squad officers acting on intelligence arrested a 30-year-old man of Peardale at Nassau Street for attempted murder investigations.

Then at noon on Tuesday, Flying Squad officers acting on intelligence arrested a 25-year-old man of Odle Corner for a rape investigation.

Jamaican arrested

A 37–year-old undocumented Jamaican of Rocky Pine Road is in custody after he was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm on Thursday.

According to reports, shortly after 1am, Mobile Division officers acting on intelligence conducted a search of a Honda vehicle occupied by the suspect on Marlborough Street.

During a search of the car, the officers reported that they found an unlicensed shotgun with a quantity of ammunition. Police also discovered that the suspect possessed no legal documents to be in the Bahamas. The suspect was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court sometime today to face firearm and immigration related charges.

Investigations continue.
