Officials call of game 3 because of rain

FOR the second night in a row, mother nature took centre stage in the New Providence Softball Association’s Carl ‘Bang Bang’ Johnson best-of-seven championship series.

Rain once again forced officials to call off game three in both the men and ladies’ series in the Banker’s Field at the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex last night.

The ladies’ game between the pennant winning Sigma Wildcats and the defending champions Sigma Brackettes was set to continue in the top of the fifth inning, but that never came off.

Again the league will attempt to make up the game starting 7pm tonight, followed by game three of the men’s series between the defending champions Arnette’s Sporting Lounge Hitmen, who lead the pennant winning Sting Truckers 2-0.

Before the game was stopped for the first time on Tuesday night, the Brackettes were trailing 4-3 with shortstop Zella Symonette sitting on third after she led off with a walk, got to second on an error and moved to third on a wild pitch. However, she was left stranded as Sharvette Taylor struck out for the first game as the game was called.
