Signs to be placed on new Bimini heritage trail this month

A HERITAGE trail is being set up on Bimini.

The trail is the result of a link-up between Resorts World Bimini and the Antiquities, Monuments & Museums Corporation and the Ministry of Tourism, and with the involvement of Caribbean Heritage Concepts (CHC).

A statement issued to accompany the launch said it will be the “first step in the development of a comprehensive plan for the promotion of the island’s historical offerings”.

Work has been under way for several weeks, beginning with on-site evaluation and looking at the heritage opportunities on the island.

CHC have designed signs for 13 locations in North Bimini. A Nassau graphics and printing company will create the signs, which are to be installed by the end of this month.

RWB general manager Ray Valentino said the Heritage Trail will present new opportunities for Biminites to showcase their island, while providing additional revenue streams.

“There are many opportunities to bring the rich culture and history of Bimini to life with this new signage,” he said.

“Once this Heritage Trail is established, guided tours can be developed to include the stops where the signage will be installed, and there can also be self-guided tours using an accompanying brochure. Resorts World Bimini is proud to support the effort of providing heritage tourism to Bimini.”
