26-year-old in custody over shooting death of Fox Hill man

POLICE have arrested a 26-year-old man for questioning in connection with the shooting death of a Fox Hill man on Saturday.

According to police, officers from the Firearm Tracing and Investigations Unit arrested a resident of Yellow Elder Gardens on Sunday for one of the two murders committed on Saturday.

The victim, who was one of three men shot over the weekend, was riddled with bullets on Abner Street, Fox Hill.

He had been wearing a T-shirt in tribute to his friend, Michael Moss, who was shot and killed about three weeks ago.

While police did not release the victim’s identity, The Tribune understands he is Darren Woodside Davis, 37, of Abner Street, Fox Hill. He did not have a criminal history, Supt Paul Rolle said on Sunday.

Police said that at around 10am on Saturday, the victim was walking west on Abner Street when three men in a burgundy coloured van approached him from behind.

Two men got out of the vehicle, armed with an assault rifle and a handgun, and discharged several shots that struck the victim, police said.

The gunmen fled the area. Police said Emergency Medical Services pronounced the man dead at the scene.
