BOWLING

FINANCIAL LEAGUE

IN Financial Bowling League competition Wednesday night, the Price Waterhouse Coopers bowling team sent a clear message which was that their team is no longer to be taken lightly. They got their first outright victory of the last two seasons and did it in style with a 2-1 decision over the powerful Sunshine Insurance team.

Marcia White had a 162 game and was 58 pins above average and Keon Justin, with a 160 game and 30 pins above average, both of Price Waterhouse Coopers, were therefore named male and female MVPs of the evening. Other scores of the evening were as follows: Fidelity Bulldogs 3, BTC Night Hawks 0; Rubis Oil Stars 3, Leno Corporate Services 0; Strike Force 2, Moonlight Strikers 1; Forsythe Communications 2, Deloitte & Touche 1.

TRACK

BSC MEET

THE Baptist Sports Council will hold its annual track and field classic on Saturday at the original Thomas A Robinson Track and Field Stadium.

The event is scheduled to start at 9am and will feature competition for men and women in the 5-and-under, 20-and-under, 15-and-under, 20-and-under, open and masters categories.

Trophies will be given to the most outstanding athletes in each category and medals to the top three finishers in each event.

The entry fee is $5 per athlete, who will be allowed to compete in a combination of two field and three track or three track and two field events.

SOFTBALL

BSC CLASSIC

THE Baptist Sports Council will begin its 2014 Softball Classic next week at the Bankers Field at the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex.

On Tuesday, November 4, last year’s champions Golden Gates will host runners-up St John’s in the co-ed opener at 7pm. That will be followed by the men’s champions St Paul’s meeting runners-up Golden Gates.

On Thursday, November 6, St Paul’s will play Macedonia in the co-ed opener at 7pm. The men’s feature game will be between Macedonia and St John’s men.

CYCLING

NPCA CLASSIC

THE New Providence Cycling Association has announced that its Bertram ‘Cowboy’ Musgrove’s Tour de New Providence Cycling Classic will be held on Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, stage one will begin at Lyford Cay with a 20-mile road race covering the western end of the island. The race starts at 7:30am and will finish at the starting line.

Stage II will be a 5-mile individual time trial that will start and finish at Lyford Cay following the completion of stage one.

Then on Sunday starting at 7:30am from the same point, stage III will take place with a 40-mile race for level one and II. Level III, open women and juniors will ride 25 miles.

The winners will be declared based on who finishes the three stages in the fastest time.

BASEBALL

JBLN CLINIC

THE Junior Baseball League of Nassau is hosting its first US Embassy/JBLN/MLB Baseball Skills Clinic until November 2 at the St Andrew’s Field of Dreams.

The skills clinic will be conducted by Elias Sosa and Armando Rios, former Major League Baseball players, who are both employed with MLB as instructors.

On Saturday and Sunday, there will be a clinic for players and coaches from 10am to 4pm. The clinic is open for players between the ages of 9-18.

JBLN thanks the US Embassy and Atlantis Paradise Island for their support of this event and they encourage their coaches, parents and players to come out and support the event.
