G R SWEETING’S Clarks and The Shoe Village stores are lending a helping hand to a local non-profit organisation in need of financial assistance.

During the entire month of August , G R Sweeting asked its customers to help the Ranfurly Homes for Children by making a donation while they were shopping for back-to-school at the various shoe store locations.

By the end of August, the company collected more than $5,000 in customer donations and contributed an additional $10,000 to the cause.

LaToya Polacek, Ranfurly Homes for Children board member, said that partnering with G R Sweeting meant a lot to the organisation and the partnership was vital to the success of the children’s home.

“It shows that we can all come together to raise these children at the home, enabling them to become contributors to our country and not a burden on society,” said Mrs Polacek.

There are currently 29 children residing at the Ranfurly Homes for Children ranging in ages from 11 to 17.

“The home has been a safe haven for thousands of Bahamian children since 1956 and provides a safe, structured environment for children who have been orphaned, abused, neglected or abandoned,” she said.

G R Sweeting said it wishes to thank its customers who generously donated to such a worthy cause.

“Without them the initiative would not have been a success, and the company looks forward to partnering with the Ranfurly Homes for Children in the future,” the company said.
