Enshrine marriage

EDITOR, The Tribune.

Logically speaking, the implied “premise” in the term “same-sex marriage” is wrong, because it is paradoxical and untrue. There can be no “marriage” between “same-sex” individuals.

The concepts and essential definitions of the terms are diametrically opposed.

No matter how one tries to make it “fit,” it is impossible to do so without destroying one or both of the “parts” trying to force themselves into a “union” that is just plain and simple “contrary to the natural use” of the “parts they are attempting to “join” or “connect”.

You don’t need an expert or a professional to tell you that, as any child or housewife trying to “connect” their smartphone to a charger. It is just “unnatural” to do so unless you have “male and female” connectors.

So, here’s a candid suggestion: a sure way to settle “the noise in the citizen-market” of Bahamians and prevent possible future social and cultural “shortages,” don’t add anything to the word “sex” in the fourth bill in the proposed Constitution Amendment.

Rather, enshrine an entirely new amendment along these lines: “marriage” in the Bahamas is defined as a union (“covenant” would be even better) between one biologically born male and one biologically born female.”

This will eliminate the future attempt of those who are trying to force the “unnatural” to become “natural” - as they surely shall. It will also prevent the “natural” progression/evolution of such a situation, should it be successful, to include multiple “parts” from trying to be “plugged” in to the same “receptacle/receptacles”.

Selah! (Think on these things!)
