POLICE seized three illegal firearms off the streets of New Providence in separate incidents over the weekend.
In the first incident, around 9am on Friday, officers from the Southeastern Division acting on intelligence went to an open lot located at Resurrection Drive, where they uncovered a handgun with four rounds of ammunition.
In the second incident, shortly after 12.30am on Sunday, police officers from the Mobile Division responded to a report of gunshots being fired at Sutton Street off Kemp Road. On arrival in the area, the officers saw two suspects who fled on foot. The officers gave chase, but were unable to catch them. The officers checked the area and found a high-powered assault weapon containing three rounds of ammunition.
In the third incident, shortly before 4am on Sunday, police officers were at a business off Tonique Williams Darling Highway when a fight broke out between three men. The officers intervened and after searching one of the men found a handgun with eight rounds of ammunition in his waist band.
The three men were taken into custody for questioning.
Police urged the public to contact them if they have any information about persons who are in possession of illegal weapons and other illegal items.
