POLICE recovered two illegal firearms from the streets of New Providence in separate incidents on Thursday.
According to reports, officers from the Mobile Division were on patrol when they observed two suspicious males in a van on Madeira Street around 4:30pm.
Upon seeing the officers, one of the men reportedly threw a handgun outside of the van. The officers subsequently retrieved the handgun that contained seven rounds of ammunition.
The officers then took the two men - both aged 31 - of Skyline Drive and East Ridge into custody for questioning.
In another incident less than an hour later, officers from the Flying Squad recovered a handgun from underneath a pile of trash at Hospital Lane and Dunmore Street.
Investigations are ongoing.
