A TRIAL date will be fixed in two weeks for a man accused of having a role in human trafficking.
Clayton Phillips, 39, appeared before Justice Carolita Bethell on Friday for a formal arraignment in Supreme Court charged with the rape of a 26-year-old woman that allegedly occurred on April 26.
Phillips pleaded not guilty to all the charges and was informed that a trial date would be set at his next Supreme Court appearance on August 28 before Justice Indra Charles.
He had not been allowed to enter a plea at his Magistrates Court arraignment in May, when he also pleaded not guilty to a count each of trafficking in persons and conspiracy to engage in trafficking in persons.
Phillips, who is on $9,500 bail, is awaiting trial in the lower court concerning those offences. He was represented by Krysta Mason-Smith in Friday’s proceedings.
