Will no one rid the Bahamian political landscape of this turbulent parliamentarian named Leslie Miller?
I am sick and tired of hearing and reading his self serving, headline grabbing statements. He has perfected the tortured art of making ridiculous statements which are intended to make headlines and which he knows the press for their own partisan agendas will use as headlines. It is a disgusting quid pro quo; we ask you a question which has no relationship to you and you give us a tormented response we use as headline. We both win. We get our headline and you get your quote and name in the paper. What a team!
This man would do anything for a headline. He even bragged once how he used to physically abuse a former girlfriend. He thought he was on a good wicket and he knew it would grab the headlines. He did not envision the negative feed back from the statement. What an intellectual! One of his friends who now looks him out weekly for a quote was calling for his removal from the House. But now all is forgiven I suppose. The man even wears the nickname “potcake” as a badge of honour.
Mr Miller’s latest rant was calling for the public to march on Parliament. Mr Miller’s only response to people convicted of murder is to hang them high. He believes that any parliamentarian who does not share his “celestial” view on capital punishment are traitors. Since 1992 he sees only in black and white. He has been a member of parliament for many years but has never put forward a bill, resolution or motion that I am aware of to strengthen the resolve of the members to support capital punishment. He believes that making headlines calling for capital punishment to be enforced is sufficient. Well, it isn’t. Mr Miller has been a legislator for many years, let us see him put his money where his mouth is and introduce the required legislation. What a dream! But that is what he is being paid to do.

Christie has no choice but to give Miller very generously compensated government appointments of one kind or another so that Miller can continue sucking on the public purse in an effort to periodically try pay the large balances he owes on his light bills. Also, let's not forget the millions of dollars in unsecured overdraft advances and loans Miller received from Bank of The Bahamas (BoB) which have been in default for many years now, and which Paul McWeeny may have arranged at Christie's request to be written-off after Christie (as Minister of Finance) wrongfully tapped into the National Insurance funds of hardworking honest Bahamians in order to fill the gaping financial hole that he (Christie) and McWeeny left in the capital structure of BoB!
